Did you come out by choice or were you outed?

I chose other. I'm semi-closeted semi-unspoken-fact that I'm gay.

There has never been an "I'm gay!" moment in my life save for one with a very close girl friend. My family, best friend and other friends have never asked about my sexuality and I in my part have never discussed my sexuality with them. To be honest I don't think my sexuality is any of their business.

My parents have had a conversation about my sexuality around the time I was dating guys. But they have never mentioned the fact that I'm gay. They just said they'd love me no matter what. Odd how they never referenced the "gay" word. They however reference my "future wife and children" on occasion, I don't know what they think of me to be honest.

 

By choice. I've only been "outed" once, and even then it didn't really count.

I was in my room with my girlfriend and my roommate, and when my girlfriend left she kissed me good-bye. And that's how I was accidentally "outed" to my roommate, who hadn't known. And my girlfriend didn't know she didn't know. And no one in this story cared.

 

So far I only came out to 5 people.
My sister, one woman in the workplace that i almost never see her anymore, my BF, my bud and a friend.
all of them are by my choice
i also come out to a lot of coma guys in the ICU but that definitely does not count

 

I came out on my own. But only to a few girls i know and a couple of straight guys that ive given oral sex to. Im sure someone knows how that is

 

I came out to a few people and ended up being outed by someone I came out to, I had nearly finished school at this point and I have finished school now so I don't really care. Nothing came about it except a few "such a girl likes you" comments which I was a bit confused about until I found out from a friend what had happened and it made more sense then.

 

I chose to come out, but I regret it. I got a bunch of bad reactions and I now have trust issues.

 

The way I see it is, people are probably gonna find out sooner or later and I'm always putting my foot in my mouth, so it's easier to wear my weirdness; a bit like a twisted badge of honour. I might exercise more caution if I didn't live in such an accepting area.

I told my mom about it and she didn't care. I didn't bother coming out to my dad. He figured it out by the partners I brought home. He just made some awkward jokes.

I usually come out by choice, but people like to talk. For example, I told one girl and she just had to tell all her friends. At that stage, it wasn't a big deal, especially compared to the impression I left on my first day at college.

I was outted when I was 12. It was not a pleasant experience for me, but I neither denied nor confirmed any rumours, so people forgot about it after a while.
Then, when I was 14, I got a girlfriend, and then, everybody knew. They knew instead of just thought.
I was outted accidentally to my mother by the same group of friends who outted me at 12, and my mother sort of outted me to my dad, although he didn't say anything until I chose to come out myself. I'll forever be thankful for that.

 

Out to everyone, never outed.

 

I came out by choice to the people who matter the most to me know and that's about it. I'm a very private person so I don't think it's necessary for me to broadcast it. However, I don't live my life secretly so if someone finds out then whatever, they know. I have nothing to hide and I am not ashamed of who I am.

 

Came out to pretty much everybody shortly after figuring out that I was gay. Out and about pretty routinely now. Never been outed as far as I know. Wouldn't much care if I was, probably.

I came out to a few select people by choice but was quickly outed by them. By the end of that month, the entire school knew and that's when the bullying began. I know that in the end, it was my fault for saying anything but I didn't know that there was such thing as homophobia, I thought it was literally like "I like girls and boys, end of story" and it was just something a little different than others.. I learned real quick that it wasn't the case.

Technically I was outed to my parents, though I later came out to my mom in a more proper way. Other than that, I'm pretty much closeted.

 

Uffff. I think my closest and oldest friends had clues to base on since we were like 10 or 11, but the first "out" moment in my life was by total accident. I was 13 and used to write letters to the girl I liked(and never deliver them, of course). I went to the bathroom and let the notebook on my desk, and when came back a classmate was reading it. I tried to tell her that "Mari"(the person I wrote the letters for) was for Mariano, but she knew it was a lie. In that moment it was awful but now I laugh about it.

Half and half for me. I was outed, and I came out by choice
