I'm sorry but some of those sexualities seem like they have no basis in reality,

What constitutes a distinct sexuality? Some of these seem to be just variances in sexual behavior due to personality.

It's all so much to absorb. Useful, but it is complex to use. I know it is valuable information though for people to find validation.

I mean, aren't some of these just personality?

Some of these just seem like normal variations in gender/sexuality, not really their own orientation or identity. I still don't agree with the whole "gender is a social construct" thing but whatever.

Isn't that like, everyone at some point?

Yeah, I don't agree with gender being a social construct either.

That would mean that our identities wouldn't exist without society, and I really don't think that's true. Gender roles though are another matter.

Honestly if and when I am asked I just say I'm gay (homosexual). I honestly don't get the fascination and obsession of creating sub-types. Last time I knew Straight and LGBT were the recognized labels, now there are so many I can't even keep up. I'm surprised they haven't made sapiosexual into an official label. :rolle:

Honestly it's like were asking for a sub-type of human... I don't make a big fuzz about my sexuality nor do I make a habit of discussing it nonchalantly with other people. I don't find the need to put it unto other people's faces. Straight people don't go hey I'm straight... sub-type... another sub-type... Then why should I.

Agreed with the responses that the most basic part of gender is not a social construct, but a physical difference in brain structure (trans people have the brain of the gender they identify as). And that these new "orientations" are mostly just variance in personality.

How about, we are all human beings with different sexual and romantic preferences. No need for any more labels.

Agreed. Just seems excessive... Can we call just agree right now that sexuality is who you're attracted to and not how?

Gosh: soon everyone will have their own specific label according to who they're attracted to, how strongly they are attracted to them, what you want to do with them, what qualities you like in a person, your favourite colour, where you live...

Are most of these even necessary?
It's too much to absorb; good luck getting people to learn them, truth be told. I can barely keep up with the more common labels.

But really, why does the hetero flag have to be black and white? If I was straight I would be uncomfortable with this. (Is there even an alternate name for 'binary'? It sounds too mathematical to me.)

So many flags. I understand that people want to be specific but this doesn't seem very elegant. There are so many identities...

    They just forgot Awesomegender.
