Do you think the "Netflix look" is more genuine?

A lot of people say that the no makeup, hair in a ponytail or messy bun, sweatpants and Netflix look is more genuine. It isn't that genuine for me. While I do wear comfy clothes and no makeup when I'm at home, I don't truly feel awake until I'm wearing makeup and some nice clothes. I also don't watch Netflix and prefer my hair down.

I'm of the mind that your "genuine" look, is whatever look you feel most comfortable looking like.

For me, that kinda completely lax look usually means something is WRONG. That I'm depressed and don't have the energy to put any effort into my appearance.

No, that look is being championed by very lazy straight girls who don't want to be feminine and still want men to accept it. Thankfully I don't even own a pair of sweat pants. And the only way I do my hair up is something that takes time into a clip. I dislike looking like a lazy trialer park girl trollin' for my next meth dealer/boyfriend.

I don't understand why people would ever profess any one look to be 'more genuine' than another, to be honest. Surely what is a 'genuine' look is...is completely individual? What any one person feels most comfortable in, or feels good in, is their genuine look. Be that sweats and a hoodie, waistcoat and slacks, or corsets and fishnets, y'know?

(The "Netflix Look" is right out for me anyway, I don't have enough available hair to wear a messy bun in the first place! I guess I'm just not that genuine.)

If I could get away with wearing a corset every day I totally would. @_@

I'll probably start wearing one once my sinuses get fixed. I have bad posture and neck problems and I've heard corsets can help with that.

You never realize how much your boobs weigh until you wear a corset either. A good one will support the weight of them for you and oh my god does it do wonders for your back and shoulders.

I find it completely ridiculous every time I see someone out in public with their fleece sleep pants on still. Just the other day some girl comes into my workplace in bunny slippers, fleece pants and a Spongebob bathrobe.......felt like shaking her and screaming "Take your lazy ass back home and put some f'ing clothes on!!!"

No. I mean, whatever people want to wear is fine, I guess. I just don't like that it's a trend. To be honest, I look ridiculous with the "messy bun" hairstyle.

I think it depends on whether it's intentional or not.
If they feel the most relaxed in sweatpants and with a messy bun, then that's fine by me.
If they're doing it intentionally to follow some sort of fashion, I think it's ridiculous.

A good sports bra will take all that weight for ya too. OF course a good one is 50$ or so, but I wear them often as I do a lot of martial arts. (26 years, masters rank in 4 schools).

It seems like most people do it intentionally.

Why is it called the Netflix look? Have they now opened a chain of hair salons? Is there also a Hulu look?

Never heard this term. Then again, I don't have Netflix anymore, due to a lack of decent foreign/indie films.

Don't these teenage expressions make you feel old? They do for me.

Around these parts we call that the scrubby look - and I've never watched anything on Netflix in my life.

I'm from Detroit, back home there it's called the "I'm cooking meth with my boyfriend" look.

They sure do, biguy, they sure do!

That made me laugh. I was born in Detroit, but grew up way, way up north. But having lived in both Detroit and Baltimore, I catch your meaning!

I'm a teenager and I don't know what any of these trends are... I'm to busy living in the mid 90's at the latest!

And this 'Netflix look'... I've never come across it (I don't have netflix or any video streaming service for a start), but it's what I wear all the time, except combat trousers instead of 'sweatpants'.

    Oh yeah. What are sweatpants?
I told you I live under a rock

What is genuine, is what makes you feel good, and makes you feel comfortable. I dont care if its the netflix look, or if its pounds of makeup. Do you.

I dress goth. A lot of people don't like the look, or the subculture behind it. But, it makes me feel cute, and Im gonna keep on wearing it, for me,

Someone on reddit called it a netflixy look. I thought that was pretty clever. Mainly because a lot of people who dress like that talk a lot about Netflix. I think both things are too sloppy and boring while other people think those things are "real."
