Wow. Really?

Well, I like it being called a "Place for Learning" but flat out saying that they are "banning" the word school? Really?

A school IS a Place for Learning...

Yay! Euphemisms!

To quote Shakespeare, "That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."

You can call the school "A place of learning" but it's still a school. I did find their names for other things to be quite hilarious.

All the PC euphemisms in there annoy the fuck out of me, but soft shoes and no locked doors? Sounds decent enough.

Is the article serious? Some of their other examples were ridiculous! "Knowledge Navigators" and "Idea Stores", are you kidding me?!?!?

Seems nice, actually. I hate how institutionalized school is.

Wow, I had to double check to make sure that wasn't a news article from The Onion!

I could care less if they choose to call it a "Place of Learning". If they wish to call their library an "Idea Store" or refer to their teachers as "Knowledge Navigators" that is fine by me.

The only thing that I would be opposed to is if they started punishing students for using the 'banned' words. For instance, if a student said to his buddy "I'll meet you at the library." I would be up-in-arms if a teacher or other staff member punished them after overhearing it. Or if a student used any "banned" words in an essay or paper and then received low marks because of it.

I do agree that it is indeed a tad bit silly.

Seems almost as stupid as, what state was it, minessota or something, for making being annoying a crime.

Its kinda rediculous but whatever. If the kids have negative connotations with "school" why do they think they won't develope negative connotations for "Place for learning"? Here's an idea. Instead of changing the name, which will do nothing, why don't they work on making their little "Place for learning" more positively connotated. Why don't they make schools a fun place to go and learn (like that'll ever happen).

I am reminded now of George Carlin.
I remember seeing once where he talked about, as he called it, "soft language".

This would be a perfect example of it.
