I had to include the time frame indicator of RECENTLY because people habits can change from time to time.

The last few years I've never kept the penny change.

In the past, I rarely kept it.

    How about you?

Sorry, I don't understand the question (I live in a country without 1c/2c/1p/2p coins)

I'm guessing he means do you keep any change you receive - and the answer for me is, it depends. £1-2 coins, 20p, 10p, 50p - yes. Any less - no. 1-2p coins are unnecessary.

I never bother taking small amounts of change when paying for things. So if I get a taxi and it's £4.90, and I pay using a £5 note, the taxi driver can keep the change.

Most of the time--my pennies are usually hidden in the rest of my change, but I can sometimes drop them and not notice.

I think the question is "How often do you keep your pennies, when received as change?"

This question was targeted at Americans where a penny is one cent.

For all other currency systems , I included the option of "other".

    Sorry for the confusion. :icon_redf

I used to keep my pennies, but I hated using them. They're no longer used, so I not have to worry about them.

I keep all my change. Money is money.

I just have a jar that I fill up with my extra change until it gets full, then I take it to the bank to deposit or get cash for it.

    I'm the same as HM03 & CodeForLife.

I save them and put them in a jar, but it will probably just sit in my room for the rest of my life.

    I keep most of the change I get, but my cousin always steals it so it's kinda pointless honestly ;_;

I can't stand pennies. If I'm suppose to get .01 back I'll tell the cashier don't worry about the penny. If the cashier has my change ready before I can say anything I'll give the pennies to my mom (women have more room for change!)

Now nickels, dimes and quarters are another story. I fill up a jar and take it to coinstar every few months

I used to take pennies and put them in soda cans, crush the cans as best I could, then take all of them to the recycling center. The center would weigh the cans, and with the pennies it bumped the weight up, which allowed me to get more money.

But I don't do this anymore. I just wanted to say, there are uses for pennies, other than handing out exact change for payment.

Nowadays, I keep pennies. Sometimes it's nice to have exact change, so I can get in and get out, and go about my day. It also makes cashiers have an easier moment, as they don't have to worry about giving back change, and the line can move a little faster. So, I'm sure, the person behind me is very appreciative of this.

Almost all of the time. End of the day, it's my money, and it adds up. Plus the main shop I use has machines that convert loads of pennies into more handy cash. They donate 10% of the money to charity, and I'm just happy I don't have to deal with too many pennies.

I take the penny. if there is a charity box on the counter i put it in there. if there isn't it goes in my savings box which i convert to £2 coins (yes it takes a while, but i put other small change in there too) for my terramudi jar

I keep all coins and then take them to my credit union that counts and deposits the money for free in my account.

I will actually separate and keep all pre-1982 pennies because they are actually 95% copper vs the post 1982 pennies that are 97.5% zinc (in 1982 both varieties were made). I keep the copper pennies because when the zombies come I will melt my pennies and make and reload my own ammo . Just kidding haha, but I do keep the copper pennies more so for fun than anything.

I save them up until there is £10 - £20 worth of copper coinage and then donate to charity.
