Reading the title you'd think "Oh yeah, marriage. You share the same surname."

    Nope.

I totally have the hots for someone with the same first name as me. I think it'd be really awkward if I ever got with him...

Anyone have, or know of, someone with that kind of problem?

I don't have that problem, but I don't think it would be much of a problem in reality.

People are good at differentiating between people with the same first name. You do it at school all the time, probably. Some variation in one or other name, using initials or some distinguishing feature?

    John and Johnny
    John P and John S
    JP and JS
    Tall John and Short John

It could get a bit confusing if you married and had the same surname too. Probably more of a problem for official letters etc rather than day-to-day though. You could use middle initials (like the Americans do) - John D Smith and John A Smith....

I really wouldn't let the same name bother you at all. If he's hot and you can get him, then go for it!

I think having the same first name as someone else may be a good way to introduce yourself and get to know them better. It doesn't really cross my mind as a problem.

Hm. having the same name, to me is cool. If my bf or partner had the same name, it would be awesome, like a double-name going out on the streets, but yeah, it wil casue some confusing communicating with your friends.

But no one ever had the sme name I had

Nobody has the same name as me (except a 79yo I met at work).
If there is another guy with my name, I hope he's gay !! That would be so fun/bizarre.

I didn't think of "surname" when I read the post title, I thought of first names.

My best friend of ten years and I have the same first name. The only time it's ever a problem is when I'm at her house. A person will shout the name. "Which one?" we call. Then we go by last name. It is strange sometimes, leaving her a message. "Hey, , it's me, ...call me when you get this. Okay, love you bye!" 'cause people would probably think I was egotistical or something.

...but DATING a woman with my name? Never have. It would seem wierd.

I wouldn't not date someone with the same name as me. I would feel kind of weird doing it though.

Whatever, Aaron's not a very common name anyway. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I personally wouldn't care if someone I was dating was also named Josh(ua). It is one of the more popular names for boys for years now. I've gone to school, worked with, etc. many a Josh, dating one would not be awkward.

This Josh - goofy, but not an idiot btw (but I know some examples that fit your mold)

At my old job, my supervisor had the same name as his partner (mike/michael), and one of my other co-workers had the same name as HIS partner (paul). They didn't seem to mind. But I have had an issue with every single other john I have ever met, so I guess it's just the person.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. 5 Stevens.

I've definitely had a name pattern.

Before I came out (both to myself and to others), I dated a girl named Anne. Then I dated a girl named Anna. Then I sort of dated another girl named Anna.

Then, about a year and a half, my first boyfriend was named Andy.

And right now I'm in an "I don't know what the hell this is" thing with a guy named Anthony.

And last month I had a little crush on a guy named Andrew.
