Ever Wrote Fanfiction?

Back when I was 14 I wrote a fanfic about Tails Prower, but I never finished it ^^"

 

Close, but not quite. I did a kind of Amazing Spider-man! parody, called Amazing Skunkboy!, about a kid who has to move from NYC because his rich parents die in a boating accident, to live with an eccentric, artist/potter uncle, in far rural Maine, where he gets bullied in school, but gains the power to turn into Skunkboy!, with the awesome powers (and appearance) of a skunk. It starts out using the very early Spider-man/outsider template, but takes it to a rural setting, in a high-school, with bullying, friendships, and romance...and, he's also gay.

I have wanted to do a few out and out fan-fics, most notably a Teen Titans/Beast Boy centered one, where he falls in love with Gizmo, from the evil H.I.V.E., just to make things more complicated.

 

As I've never done a true fan fic, but plan to soon, how would you say things have changed over the years? I've read some I really liked, but will have to explore the whole scene more. One thing I noted is that some of it seems a bit detail-obsessed, so that it almost isn't fun; or; obversely, too sloppy/poorly put together.

Nothing seriously or terribly long.

Really, they were more or less short one shots. Reflective pieces. No longer than a page or two.

While I probably could produce something longer, I like my short pieces.

 

Yes. One chapter. I even posted it online and got quite a few positive comments and then I never updated the fanfic, lmao. I ended up just deleting it.

 

I tried like once to do so for StarFox involving Fox McCloud being sent to another dimension via a Stargate or something, I can't really remember, and it failed miserably. I can't write very well when it's other peoples' work I'm working with.

 

When I was younger, I wrote a story about a Terminator coming into the Pokemon world. Besides that, I recently wrote one for Welcome to Night Vale.

I wrote one fanfic on Katekyo Hitman Reborn on fanfiction.net. I think it did well. I have been reading fanfiction since middle school.

 

Oh, I have indeed. Most of it is varying shades of embarrassing, although luckily the worst of it never saw the light of day on the internet, and lies buried in notebooks or unfinished Wordpad files.

I used to write a bit of Kingdom Hearts fic, back in 09'-10' kind of a time. Not much, though, mainly Larxene/Namine fic because unhealthy trainwreck relationships with the Worst Dynamics Ever in fic have always been my jam.

Then I briefly fell out of fic-writing, before coming back with a series of Portal drabbles, including, uh, one M-rated piece featuring Doug Rattmann and his companion cube (hear me out! It was an exercise in trying to make something really weird feel believable. It was not just weird cube porn, I swear.)

I'd still be writing weirdass fic to this day, but I've developed an awful nervousness around writing and I'm still battling through it. The nervousness is the main reason I've never written more than short (and mainly shippy) drabbles - I'd love to write full stories, but chapters intimidate me.

 

Two Big Brother fanfics. They're nothing special, it's just about me being in the house with a group of HGs in place of another HG that never made a huge impact on the audience.

 

Used to. But I haven't written fanfiction in almost seven years. I moved on to writing original material. Much more satisfying and I'm not bound by the rules of anyone's existing canon except my own.

 

Not really. I've experimented with writing out dialogue between several existing characters, because I noticed that a lot of fanfiction kind of butchers characters' personalities. I figured if I was able to believably portray characters that someone else made, I'd be able to better characterize my own characters.

That being said, I haven't written any works of fiction since high school.

 

I'm a fanfic author~ Mainly write for anime: Shugo chara, gakuen alice (cuz you can play around so much with their characters), Maid Sama, Junjou, DC, Assassination classroom, Fairy Tail, FMA and APH. Games is Ib and Witch's house. I do mainly oneshots. Too little stamina to write multi chapters, though I'm still in the middle of some. I started about 3-4 years ago, with over 20 stories now~ Had to remove some M because of personal matters and some got removed.

I love fanfic! But I feel my scrutiny for writing and storytelling has surpassed what I'm willing to tolerate a lot of times. The story has to be good or else I find myself losing interest, even if I like select parts of it :S

I haven't read or written in awhile but I do try to stay involved on a regular basis.
