Ok so I have had a lot of confusion saying some people go to college at 16 then others at 18 so I would like to know what your schools grade levels are.

    Example: kindergarten-5 (elementary/grades school) 6-8 (middle) 9-12 (high)

Some people just skip grades or maybe some may go to specialized academy thingy where they can be finished with college and highschool by 18 years of age or something like that. I had a chance to do it but my mother feared for my mental and emotional health, among other things.

My old school: Pre-Kindergarten-4 (lower school), 5-8 (middle school), 9-12 (upper school)
My new school: Kindergarten-5 (lower school), 6-8 (middle school) 9-12 (upper school)

I think in other countries, the school systems are completely different, but I am not sure. I have a friend who is going to college when she is 16, but it is because she skipped two grades.

I went to college at 16. The school system I grew up with is:
    nursery-kindergarten-preparatory (pre-elementary level)
    Grade 1-6 (elementary level)
1st-4th year High School (high school level)

But the new school system, which was only implemented 2-3 years ago, follows this:
    Kindergarten-Grade 5 (lower school)
    Grade 6-8 (middle school)
    Grade 9-12 (upper school)

Elementary School- k-6 (ages 5-6/11-12 usually)
    Middle - 7-8 (12-15 age range)
    High - 9-12 (13-14 to 17-18 senior year)
This is average ages, not counting those who have stayed back or skipped.

    Years 7-10 (high school)
    Years 11-12 (college)

Tertiary studies here aren't referred to as college.

Yea, it's usually the same in America, but sometimes, depending on the state and county school boards, they have different placements. Like for instance, in some northern states, 6th grade is still considered elementary, whilst in my state, and a lot of others, 6th-8th are all middle school. So for the most part, if you live in america, you sorta follow that basic guideline.

    Where I live in Canada:

    Pre-school (not compulsory) age 4

    Kindergarten age 5

    Elementary Grades 1 through 6

    Junior High Grades 7 & 8

High School Grades 9 through 12

University & College After high school graduation... if you
have completed the required courses to get in

Of course, the very brilliant can skip a grade, but it happens fairly rarely because it is not
considered good for the person's social development.

Pre-school: 2 to 6 (only mandatory after 3 years old)
    Elementary school: 6 to 11
    Middle school: 11 to 15
High school: 15 to 18 (you're allowed to drop out at 16 years old)
And after that you go work, or to university, or to whatever higher education school you're accepted to.

It's not that uncommon to skip (especially in elementary school) or be held back a grade. There were at least two of us in these cases in every class I've been in.

Preschool usually around 3 years old. Not obligatory

Kindergarten usually for child 4 and 5 years old. Not obligatory

Elementary School (Grade 1-6) : Minimum age requirement to enroll 5 years and 6 months

    Junior High School (Grade 7-9)

High School (Grade 10-12) : In this level, students are specialized into 3 groups : science, socials and language.

College / University : Students from science group may pick any major they want. Social group students may only pick social and language majors. Language group students may only pick language majors.

Of course some genius people might skip some grade (5 years instead of 6 during elementary school, 2 years instead of 3 during middle school and 2 years instead of 3 during high school).

Some people can skip grades and stuff. I have friends who are smart enough to, and I'm also probably smart enough to skip also since I get all As and I scored well enough on the SAT last year that I had a chance to skip to 8th grade (I was in 7th grade then) but I didn't because I just... didn't really want to.

My school has lower school, (JK-4) middle school, (5-8) and upper school. (9-12) I've been at my school since 1st grade. Almost a lifer but not quite. DX If you ask me I think I am a lifer since I can't remember my old school well at all.

My school is a 7-12 school.
In australia we have K-12 as our base, some states don't do preparatory (prep) which is the first year of primary school (elementary).

    Our school years are
    Kindergarten
Age: 3 First Year Kingergarten (Optional)
    Age: 4 First/Second Year Kindergarten
    Primary/Elementary School
    Age: 5-6 Preparatory
    Age: 6-7 Grade 1
    Age: 7-8 Grade 2
    Age: 8-9 Grade 3
    Age: 9-10 Grade 4
    Age: 10-11 Grade 5
    Age: 11-12 Grade 6
    Secondary School
    Age: 12-13 Year 7
    Age: 13-14 Year 8
    Age: 14-15 Year 9
    Age: 15-16 Year 10
    Age: 16-17 Year 11
    Age: 17-18 Year 12
    Tertiary Education/ University
Depending on your University course, you might spend 2-4 years studying in Tertiary education. Whether you get in is based on your ATAR score which is out of 99.97.

    Here in Italy:
    Elementary 1-5
    Middle School 6-8
    High School 9-13
So, assuming you started at 6 and your birthday is between January-first part of June and don't fail or skip (which isn't common at all) a year, you'll end school at 19. Sucks. :tantrum:
Also, university is usually 3 or 5 years, depending on what you choose and the type of specialisation.

Where I went to school, Michigan USA it was as follows, but that was many years ago...

    Elementary School K-6
    Jr High School 7-9
    High School 10-12

Interesting though that 9th grade was considered High School for your transcript, but it was taught at the Jr High.
