I would like publicly " come out" as a living kidney donor. I would also like to "come out" as a kind, loving and compassionate person. ( at least that's the rumor about me) I love it here on EC, and consider everyone here as part of my extended online family. I gave my brother my kidney August 28 2002. My brother and I both celebrated our 13 year anniversary last month. I uploaded a picture of myself and my brother on my profile. When the mods approve it you folks can see it. Also, I know some people on here have made false claims about themselves and their situation, so I have made a thread in the ask the staff section showing proof.
That's awesome. My mother had to have a transplant two months ago, so that kind of resonates with me. The list of people who still need one is absurdly long.
Thanks Guitar. It did " take a lot out of me.":roflmao: ---------- Post added 16th Sep 2015 at 09:36 AM ---------- I changed my avatar picture just for today. I'm the one in the red shirt. I uploaded some pictures to my profile album but they are all upside down.
Besides me , have you folks ever met or had any interactions with a living organ donor of any type? Ive been on EC since January and I'm EC's most prolific pollsters. So, you folks had many interactions with me not knowing I'm a donor. I donated at age 27 and I have never met an organ donor prior to me donating
I do have a humorous story to tell about my donation. Prior to me donating my brother was on dialysis for a whole year with no kidney function at all. Meaning that my brother couldn't urinate at all. One week after I gave my brother a kidney, my brother passed a kidney stone. Thirteen years later, my brother and I still don't know who's stone it was. :roflmao:
I'm glad to hear that both you and your brother are doing well. It's good when family members are compatible donors and have the courage and love to do the right thing.
