OK, a friend came up with this idea, and then I added a bit to it, but I think he is right: Milk and Coke are beverage opposites: -Milk is white, coke is black. -Milk is good for your teeth and bones, coke is bad. Milk has calcium and stuff, and I watched an episode of MythBusters in which they put various things in coke for a week and the tooth and chicken bone went soft. -Milk makes you go "Mmm", coke has you go "Ahhh" -Milk comes from cows or other living beings, coke comes from plastic or glass bottles or equally dead aluminum cans. -Milk is non-carbonated, coke is fizzy -Milk will go bad really quick if it's not refrigerated, but you could probably leave a bottle of coke out for years, and it would still be OK -When you feed newborn humans with only milk they live, and I guess they die if you feed them only coke bc I never heard of anyone doing it. We need more scientist mothers. See? I could go on, but the case is proven.
I must be the anti-christ then, because there was a time when I would only drink Coke mixed with milk. I outgrew it but yeah, wouldn't mind some milk-coke right now.
Haha! Well, I guess you do have a valid point. That would give me the worst stomachache. I'm also mildly lactose intolerant, though. So I guess that plays a part.
Coke does not damage bones. (Yeah it does teeth though.) And the experiments which disprove this aren't exactly legitimate. Yeah in these experiments, the bone is corroded away, but in the human body, coke is going to go no where near any bone and make contact with it. That aside, I really enjoy both milk and coke, and they probably are opposites as you say. ^__^
What's weird is what happens when you mix the two, say, six hours later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhofonPRrFM How does that happen????
No. Milk and coke are both acidic. ---------- Post added 26th Oct 2015 at 05:47 PM ---------- False. Milk has a pH of 6.7 Slightly acidic! It's a common misunderstanding.
When I first read milk, I thought chocolate milk, so I was kinda shocked when you said white. The only thing I know about milk (besides the strengthening of bones and teeth, etc) is that it can make you throw up. (Different types of milk-line it up, let a blindfolded person drink it, then sneak in a glass of orange juice at the end of the line of milk.) That's the only thing I know XD
Milk is not good for (human) bones or teeth (well, not cow milk; the body uses more calcium than is in the milk to neutralize the acid). Coke is also not good for many things health wise. Milk causes carbon dioxide to be produced. So does coke. Milk is a waste of energy to mass produce for humans in factories (seven kilos of food and water in, one kilo of milk out). Coke is a waste of energy to mass produce for humans in chenstry labs and factories. Milk has protein. Coke has extremely little protein Milk is off white. Coke is brown. Milk is thick. Coke is thinner.
I never liked experiments like this, for multiple reasons. First, no one ever leaves soda in their mouth for an entire day, let alone a week. Merely drinking soda will not have the same effect as this experiment. Not to mention, you could leave bone or a tooth in any type of liquid for a week and have nearly the same results. Contrary to popular belief, milk doesn't actually have a whole lot of calcium. Foods like Broccoli (along with every leafy green vegetable) has a lot of calcium. And foods such as Barley/Wheat grass, Sardines, Nuts, Watercress, and Kale have more calcium than milk. Also, FYI, there are plenty of natural foods that have acidity nearly that of soda. Such as citrus fruits; they can wear away enamel too. How many people here would swear off fruit in light of this info? The truth is, soda is no more a danger to dental health than much anything else. Well, technically, by this logic milk comes from plastic too as you didn't really do a fair comparison here. Soda is stored in plastic, glass, or aluminum; but milk is also stored in plastic, glass, or aluminum. Also, aluminum can't be dead as it was never living in the first place. I once drunk a can of Root Beer that was sitting in my garage for a couple of years. I gotta say, that was probably the best Root Beer i've had in my life. I think undisturbed Soda can age like wine.
