    Pretty straight forward.

I'm sure many of us do enjoy gifts and compliments, but not always all of them. Sometimes folks compliment us on stuff that may embarrass or annoy us, and they may give us socks for Christmas.

Is there any kind of compliments or gifts that you do not enjoy receiving?

Chocolate. As much as I love it, it's just a boring present, with no thoughts put in and no effort. I like when people think about what they give away

Clothes. I hate it when people get me clothes. They're always either the wrong size or look ridiculous on me. I'd rather people give me a gift card to a clothes store than clothes themselves.

I hate it when people buy me clothes. I'm very particular when it comes to what I wear so unless I told you exactly what I want clothing wise, don't buy me clothes.

I also really hate it when people comment that my acne is clearing up. Please don't acknowledge it at all. It makes me feel awkward and insecure :/

Honestly gifts in general aren't my thing. I've got this sort of 'gosh, I owe you something twice as good now' complex so I'd rather people just not.

Compliment wise what I dislike is:
    "Nice young lady." *sigh*
"You're such a pretty girl." *twitch*
"Your hair was so pretty, do you really want it that short?" *uncomfortable shifting*
"You know if you put on a dress like this you'd be stunning." *eyes widen in horror*
"Oh my, you look like such a proper lady in that." *blank stare of exasperation*

Clothes, unless it's from Chanel, or any other fantastic fashion label. In that case I adore the person who bought it for me.

Tbh I kinda find compliments inherently embarrassing. I just feel like they put me on the spot or something, idk.

Clothes - Unless you are my mom or know my exact size and the style I like, don't bother.

Books - To me they are a very personal thing and unless I actually give you the exact name of a book I want, don't bother.

Jewellery - see the first bulletin.

    Best thing ever: gift cards!

I can't think of any annoying compliments I may have received.

I actually love getting socks, lmao! I love getting things I need. I hate getting certain clothes from my mom. She will go shopping and I don't always like what she picks out.

I hate when men call me sexy. As much as some people may like it, I don't. I constantly get Facebook messages from random men telling me how hot and sexy I am. >.>

    "Wow, you're so tall!"

You don't compliment people for being short so why compliment people for being tall?! I'm only freakin 5'7", in a few years I'll just be a bit above average! Dx

Pretty much any gift is fine by me, except if I'm given a boring book or a really ugly sweater.

Clothes. I'd rather have £5-15 in cash than a shirt.

In my mind, a gift or a compliment, is a gift or a compliment. I may dislike the person giving me one, but the gesture itself is still nice.

Cute is a word that should at least be socially regulated. Whenever I hear middle aged people call one another 'cute' I just think, "Why....". What happened to words like handsome, gorgeous, or even attractive? Cute always seems to be the ultimate word for every level of attractiveness, I mean if Tom Hardy walked in to my room shirtless, 'cute' would certainly not justify how fucking sexy he is.

    All this p much.
That and my extended family likes trying to make me what they want me to be, this ultra-feminine little girl. I know I'm not out to them and whatnot, but cmon. Dresses ain't gonna do me any good.

can never complain about gift cards though.

Same. Tho I would only be annoyed if that gift is given to really annoy you or a compliment is said sarcastically.

When people refer to me as "smart, or sciency" (since I go to a STEM school). I don't actually feel particularly smart and although it's nice of the person to say that, it kind of puts pressure on me to be all studious and ambitious (which I'm not most of the time). It's like people expect different things from me because of the school I go to.
