The most stupid reason for being anti-gay?

It's funny because this information is very common, and when you show them it they just say "they are establishing dominance".

I was interviewed for a part-time tutoring job (basic math) and this mum went:

"I don't want you to teach my child. He'll turn gay."

I literally lol'd in front of her.

I dont even know if religion is the most or least stupid reason, but it is the most annoying

 

My favourite reason is the glorious "it grosses me out". :lol: Like slugs gross me out, but you don't see me protesting their weddings and getting outraged at the thought of them having equal rights.

 

I find this reason the most annoying; unlike a highly religious view with strict gender roles and a horrendous but nonetheless consistent message about morality, the argument by yuck-factor just doesn't have any basis to oppose. It's just so pathetic that there are so few ways to address it intelligently.

How does one evaluate whether the inability to read the bible (while caring about what it says) is more or less stupid than condemning people because of your personal taste? Or if ignorance of what is in the bible (while caring about what is in it) is more or less stupid than ignorance of nature?

My dad was watching Fox News once, and he was getting all ticked off at some governor who was talking about gay rights or something. He told me that he doesn't have anything against gay people, but he doesn't support gay marriage because it will make younger generations think that it's normal. There's a reason I'm still in the closet.

Most annoying is religion, by far. These people are the most immune to reason and refuse to do their own research regarding homosexuality in the bible.

 

I don't know, I was thinking the same thing. Due to my personal lack of any respect for religion and the fact that it's the most tired and lazy excuse used by homophobics to openly antagonize us and get away with it, I find the religious bigot group to be ~slightly~ more annoying and pathetic, than the "generally an asshole" type. Of course it goes without saying, that homophobia, in any case, is always annoying and pathetic regardless of the motivation, so it's pretty much a distinction without a difference.
