I am posting this because I know the ec providers have had a rough last couple of days with the breakdown of this site. And it think it is important to thank them and say that as a community we are thankful for this site and it is ok what happened everyone makes misacts. I think you handled this problem very well and deserve some appreciation. I can not even explain how much this website has helped and I thank you. So thank you EC for everything you have done for me and will do for me in the future!
Ahh, I guess that the secret is out now! So much for that...lol. On a more serious note, thank you all for bearing with us as we recover from all of the data that we lost. Hopefully we will be back up and running fully soon and this will be a distant memory (that we will learn from to prevent this from happening in the future). We appreciate that you are understanding of the situation
I think this loss of data has been handled pretty damn well for such a big deal that it was, and it's certainly not the fault of any EC people that their data provider screwed up, so yeah, thanks for that. Not sure what else to say, just wanted to give a shoutout to the staff for working their asses off to keep this site up and running.
Yes, thank you I do have a question - the site has been running slowly every 30 minutes or so. Sometimes everything loads fine, and then NOTHING can load, and then it switches back to normal. Is that a side effect of the data loss?
This is something that we are looking into. There are a few issues that are still being solved because of the data loss. Hopefully we will be back up to speed soon
We're aware of the slowness. Unfortunately, it's really intermittent, and so we've not had much luck tracking it down because it disappears as soon as we look for it. It may or may not be associated with the data loss (probably not) but it's still being looked into. And thanks for the kind words from everyone. Our staff has really stepped it up to help out and that's much appreciated. And members have been really understanding, which is also really appreciated. We're still going through things with our ISP about what they intend to do to ensure this doesn't happen again, and we're also looking into other options so we're not reliant solely on them, since it seems clear they aren't completely trustworthy. In the long term, it will hopefully make us more stable and robust.
