From my view, it seems as if men who like men have a thing for going shirtless. At Pride events, ripped gay dudes strutting their stuff is quite a common sight. On gay social media, shirtless profile pics are the norm. As a bisexual boy, I do admit that I enjoy it a lot. I'm not ripped or anything, but it's part of my aesthetic and I feel confident.

My question is why? Why are gay/bi men typically more inclined to lose their shirts than straight men? I would say that both groups are equally "sexual". And I doubt it has to do with same sex attraction because lesbians (from what I can tell) aren't linked as often to half-nudity. So what would you say is the reason why gay men aren't huge fans of shirts?

They're advertising/showing off. Advertising because - well that should be obvious. Showing off, because most of them have to work pretty hard to look like that and males tend to play dominance games of one sort of another just as a matter of course.

For straight guys it's money, fast cars (or big trucks), etc.

    My 2c worth,

    Todd

    Oh! It's pride.

    There's gay guys around.

Let me show off how hot I am.

    Please sleep with me.

Pretty much how I see it. I do feel like if a dude is pretty fit, gay or straight they'll be more likely to take their shirt off.

Alas, I must keep my shirt on so as to not scare the small children.

Not really certain. Can't say I complain though, I've always been aesthetically interested in the shape of the male torso and shoulders for some reason.

I like wearing shirts at almost all times, but sexual appeal is obviously part of the reason. And as a guy who likes other guys, you're probably not going to be in altogether many situations (especially with things like dating apps) in which you'd see straight guys showing off. Summer at the beach, for example, is a time and place where most guys strut their stuff, regardless of sexuality.

I really don't think men who like men are significantly more likely to go about shirtless.

As someone said, it's "advertising," and you can figure out what the "product" is. If they look good, I'm certainly not complaining

I don't like it when guys go shirtless. It makes me really uncomfortable, tbh.

Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I find a guy who's wearing a tight shirt more attractive than a guy that's shirtless. +10 points if it's a dress shirt.

    I don't know why.

    Maybe because I like mystery?

Not really too much on topic, but I grew up basically shirtless. I have 3 older brothers and we played outside all the time. The less clothes the better because we had to wash and hang our own laundry haha. I go shirtless at my house, but never really have a reason to not wear a shirt in public. The lake sure.

I am kinda confident about what is under my shirt, but I don't feel the need to show it off too much. ...now I kinda wanna go take a shirtless picture for some reason.
