    Hello,

I went to a Christian faith school [primary] and we never learnt once about sexuality/love or being against some types of it. So I was just wondering did anybody else go to a Christian faith or other faith school [primary or high school, please specify] that did talk against some types of sexuality/love?

Probably just trying to wonder why I became a Christian in the first place if I knew I liked girls then and thought I was a girl then so if I knew they disliked me then I probably wouldn't have [which is probably why I'm quasi-Christian now with my own belief about homosexuality].

    Anyway, thank-you for answers.

I studied in a Christian school, and i have to admit, i don't remember the religion teacher saying anything against LGBT (she wasn't the smartest person in the world, but still, she seemed very open minded). My sister said that our Portuguese teacher said some stupid things against LGBT and other religions, but, apart from that idiot, i never had any problem with the other teachers or school staff, and, in fact, i respect my old teachers a lot.

Ironically, i entered as a christian and got my diploma as an atheist, but that happened for other reasons. I don't remember having any problem in that school, apart from the one teacher i mentioned.

My sister is still there and most teachers remember me as a great student, and they didn't said anything bad about me even when my sister told them i'm Bi (i wasn't out of the closet when i was there).

My primary school was not officially a faith school, but we had strong links to the church, which meant prayers every assembly and before eating, and a Bible in every classroom. So yeah, a faith school (although barely anyone there was religious).

Onto your question. We had Sex Education day in Year Six (age 10-11) and sex was presented as purely for making babies and there was no mention of actually enjoying it, if you see what I mean. No mention of contraception either. Someone did ask a question about how gay people have sex, and the answer was "we're not allowed to discuss this at your age". So although they didn't say anything against LGBT relationships, they pretty much ignored them.

I'm currently at a faith school after failing yr12 the first time and moving to this new school in order to repeat. The school itself seems relatively pro-lgbt on the face of things. We have a lot of anti-homophobia posters and whatnot around and the members of staff/students that I associate with are not anti-lgbt, which is great.

On the other side of things, certain members of the administration team seem to be.. well, incompetent to say the least. This leads to situations where homophobia from students isn't always tackled. As well as the more upsetting fact that some members of staff are able to give school presentations that insinuate that sex can only be between a man and a woman (along with the idea that only women can be pressured into sex). Unfortunately the majority seem to ignore these types of comments.

Yup, from my Pre-Elementary days to my last High School days, I am studying at a Christian school. And it is where my Faith bloomed  Academically, we are forced to know some Bible stories and memorize Bible verses. Weirdly, the only memory verse that I can remember is John 3:16  But spiritually, I think the school done it good. They would ALWAYS insert morals and some Bible stuffs in every lesson, even in Calculus! Our History and Biology teacher didnt stated that any of the origin of man stories is the real one, they gave us the option to choose which to believe. LGBT friendly? For lesbians and gays they are, but they are not that "Woohoo, we are gay friendly school!" More like, "O youre gay, I know that and we wont judge you or anything". But I dont think they are transexual friendly, so is almost all high schools here, be it religious school or not. For them, genitals=gender

Yes, my school was very homophobic, especially the chaplain. We watched a lot of Focus on the Family videos in our "worldviews" class. He inferred that homosexuality was one step away away from pedophilia and bestiality in this stupid sexual depravity chart. It basically went like this on a linear chart(a tad longer than what I have room for on one line):

    purity___softcore porn___hardcore porn___homosexuality___pedophilia/bestiality

In our 11th grade worldviews class after he spent several days condemning homosexuality, we watched a video regarding the evil tactics of NAMBLA. I was obviously disturbed by the NAMBLA propaganda and completely self-loathed about my same-sex attraction. It ate away at me on so many days.
I found many years after I graduated that class president confided in our chaplain that she was sexually abused. He told her that all sexually abused people were damaged goods. :frowning2:

In health class, the teacher went over all the STD's out there. However, I don't remember the video talking about AIDS because it was some VHS tape from the early 80's or something.
