Does anybody know a good method for unbinding a paperback book?

An internet search has so far not helped.

    Thanks

Assuming it's not Smyth sewn and is glued, like paperbacks, maybe an X-ACTO knife and plenty of patience is the way to go.

I would google a book specialist in your area. I bet they would know.
