So, do you find that you tend to have lots of different interests or less interests but more focused ones? Personally when I get into at topic I like to research into it a lot, till I know it almost inside-out. They tend to be unrelated topics, like cats and hypnosis. And unless I go into hypnotising cats, most of my knowledge is fairly useless except for certain situations.

I don't have much of a sense of time, so when I really get into something I can lose myself in it. Of course I get bored among with everyone else for doing something for too long, but I can be a little overly obsessive. I wish my interests were more productive- instead they're pretty random.

I always worry that if I develop interests that'll become all I'm known for. For example if I became interested in ummm... stamps (I'm not lol) I'd probably only get stamps for a while. I fear of being seen as a one-dimensional character, even though I certainly feel like one sometimes. Perhaps I'm a robot who's having a rather long dream about being a human. Wait... can robots dream? Probably not, not yet anyway. DUN DUNN DUNN

Anyway, do you have lots of interests (and perhaps lose interest in them after a short time and then move on to something else) or do you only have a few interests that may or may not change over time that you obsess over before moving on to something else?

    I think I'm a bit of both.
I have some interest that have always stuck with me, like Pokémon, animals, space, and video/computer games, as well as some musical artists, movies/tv-shows, and books, but I do also sometimes tend to obsess over something and then move over to the next thing a little while later.
Can't think of any examples, though.

Oh, maybe I can! I HAVE to re-read the "Clan of the Cavebear" books once a year or so, and I HAVE to watch "You've got mail" and "The Beach" once every few years. Not sure if that counts as specific interests, but thought I'd list it anyways :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I have many interests, a bit too many.
But I classify them as my active and passive interests.
Active are rhose ones which I pursue regularly, passive ones are not that important.
Active interests would be studying, coding, music, reading and travelling.
Passive are painting, writing, photography etc

I go through phases. For a few months I will read like crazy, then move on to something else. I will still read, but not as much. My other hobbies are art, guitar, video games and other minor interests. Each of the main ones will take up most of my free time at one time or another.

I wont talk about my obvious interests that I have talked about (zombies, Pokemon, nature, etc.)

Almost the same  I LOVE watching documentaries about the space (especially about extraterrestrial life). Quasars, black holes, stars, etc. I like watching Ancient Aliens, Giorgio Tsoukalos FTW LOL!

I am also really interested in the porn industry. Sometimes instead of watching porns, I would watch documentaries about it. I love reading about porn stars' lives.

I don't have a great number of interests, but I tend to be intensely focused on what few I do have:

I do a lot of writing and drawing, and I can lose myself in a single project for hours, or even days; one piece I finished this year took four days in which I did absolutely nothing else.

This is kind of the obvious one, but I'm a die-hard Borussia Dortmund fan and I am always keeping up with anything and everything involving my club.

I am fascinated with the Titanic; I know an absurd amount about the ship and the lore surrounding her (which makes watching a certain 1998 film interesting as I can point out everything wrong or right).

And I've been fascinated with meteorology, especially storms, since I was a child, and someday hope to make studying them my career.

Many of my interests are things I can't really partake in as much as I'd like to for a number of reasons.

For example, I enjoy urban exploring and writing. Writing has been hard for me lately since I find myself having a difficult time being creative or finding inspiration, and I haven't been able to go urbexing in years because of transportation reasons.

Some I'm trying to get back into; such as my love for horror movies, astronomy, history (really anything relating to ancient history--long gone civilizations, dead languages, and unsolved mysteries), 80s/90s pop culture, anthropology, and true crime; some of which has been tough considering the questionable people within those circles (mostly the "Columbiners" who worship serial killers or are in love with them).

These days, most of my time in terms of hobbies are fixated on horror cinema and body modification--since I plan on being a filmmaker one day and hope to eventually get a piercing apprenticeship.

When I was young I started going through many different phases of what I would collect/interest me. (Order may not be exact) I was into rocks and minerals, then coins, then Hot Wheels (never opened them), then stamps, then antiques, then leather-bound books, then coins again, then bullion, then emergency preparedness, now silverware and Christmas ornaments.

As varied as it may seem, it seems I have always had the interests of a 50yo man . I still have my coin and bullion collection and my philatelic collection is somewhere in storage, but haven't added to it. I also may or may not have several hundred pounds of food under my bed that should be shelf-stable for 20 years; one day I'll rotate and change my food stocks, I just hope I date a guy who doesn't think I'm weird for having emergency supplies and a long-term food cache  (he would have to be a guy who I'd be in a long-term relationship before I would "confess" about this :lol:slight_smile:. I also collect silverware, particularly turn-of-the-century silverware that was originally used for purposes that today may be considered either unnecessary or frivolous: I have a 13-inch silver spoon to get the stuffing out of the turkey . I also collect sterling and glass/crystal Christmas ornaments.

I don't have many interests, but they are really strong and don't change. I think I should be happy about it.
