So a British discount store has just released this particularly awkward advertisement: Video: Robert Dyas's 'we're gay' film is 'weirdest Christmas advert ever' - Telegraph Apparently it is a parody of this American ad re black/white customers...doesn't make it any less weird though. Incidentally, I'm gay and have never shopped in Robert Dyas, but I appreciate that they sell straight and gay friendly power tools. There have been some funny comments on Twitter though: Oh dear! NB: That man in the Christmas decoration aisle. Yup. :icon_redf
"This Christmas tree would be great for a gay person. Or a straight person." Good to know, I want to make sure my Christmas tree is suitable for my orientation!:eusa_doh:
..... I would give you my words, but I don't seem to have any. The one it is parodying is just as bizarre to me. :eusa_eh:
"This drill would work a treat in a straight person's home. Or a gay person's."......Is that supposed to be suggestive...?
They should label everything in stores like they do with Vegan friendly food. "Suitable for gay homes and straight homes", with a big tick. And it's such an informative advert, now we know exactly what to get bisexual friends and relatives this Christmas - vegetable spiralizers! The weirdest thing about the advert is the sexy gay customer who loves shopping at Robert Dyas magically becomes a checkout worker at the end. I'm presuming he loved Robert Dyas that much that he begged for a permanent job post-shoot.
It is indeed, although in a way it is a rather nice application of good race relations! A nice bit of diversity and inclusion. ---------- Post added 13th Dec 2015 at 02:04 PM ---------- Well they can always reassure themselves that at least they didn't appear in this monstrosity, or this one.
Well that got an awkward laugh from me. At least they didn't inform us that the pan was suitable for pansexuals. And yes how they avoided innuendo we will never know? Drills? Baubles? My mind is going to weird places.
