I dunno if any of your colleges or LGBT centers have this. But thursday, I get to announce my sexuality to an entire room of people. There are 3 "panelists" per event. The basic thing is, a professor decides that his/her class needs to learn more about LGBT's and 3-5 students who are out, go into the class and share their stories and answer questions that the class might have about LGBT's. I'm a bit nervous about doing it. Dunno why. I'm not in the closet at all. And I'm not ashamed about being Pan. I just don't like getting up in front of people. Haha. And this will be my first time...so...wow. Excited and nervous.
Just remember to take deep breaths and keep breathing. It is going to be alright! It's great that a prof decided to do that and that you are participating it. Others can only learn from you! Good luck and let us know how it went.
I'm sure you'll do great! It's a great thing, when you can use your own experiences to educate others.
I'm getting revved up for the big event. lol. The night before I'm hoping to meet the two guys I'll be up there with. Makes me kinda sad I'll be the only girl. That means we won't have a representative for the lesbians or trans folks. (Unless one of the guys is a trannie) And I guess technically I'm bi, though I don't label myself that way. I'm looking forward to meeting them though. ...And getting more excited about the Speak Out.
Told ya'll I'd keep ya updated. So...I'm sitting here ten minutes before we're supposed to do the Speak Out. OOO!!!! Getting excited.
My final post in this thread (unless you guys ask some questions): The speak out went so well! There were four panelists including myself. It was so scary telling my story (about my sexuality, how long i'd known, and who've i've told) to an entire class. Roughly 20 people. I mean, twenty people at once that i'm pan. Oh goodness. My hands were shaking slightly (though it coulda been the amp I was drinking) as was my voice. After the four of us told our stories, we got asked all sorts of questions. Ranging from "what's transgender" to the religion topic, hate towards us, whether we're born this way...etc. It was actually so much fun! I really can't wait till I do it again. I'm sure it'll be much easier. The next one i'm signed up for is Feb. 18! Gah! So pumped!
Yay Myra! Personally, I don't even know what Pansexual is ._. But sounds like you got a lot of information out
Ooh, that'd be so cool. D: Edit: Oh, and Myzou? Pansexual means that you can be attracted to all types of people, regardless of their gender.
Yup...you got it ^ Pansexuals are attracted to personality rather than the gender. I could date anyone as long as their personality was right.
