I love looking at a lot of art on ig and lately I feel like my art is crud because everyone likes a lot of artists that do fanart... there's nothing wrong with fanart but sometimes there'll be someone who's really good at drawing fanart and them when it comes to drawing their own characters.... it doesn't look do hot if you know what I mean.. oops forgot my intro. What's up my cocoa beans and lovely coffee cups, how are y'all doin'? XD. I'll post a picture I did of my friend and still working on some story boards. IMG_20151218_233918.jpg

I rarely draw fanart myself, so it's usually just a assorted mess of my own characters. I guess that's one reason I don't get a lot of comments on them.

It's hard to tell from one picture, but you seem to be pretty good yourself!

I only illustrate digitally. Some people tell me this will limit my technique down the line, but so far the all-digital approach has been working fine for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have never done fanart of anything, since I don't think I would be able to add that to my portfolio. I've been thinking of picking it up recreationally tho, or just for practice.

You're certainly better at clean lines than I am. I naturally shake, so I can do well enough with painting, or wax, or even charcoal and chalk, but my pencil-work is terrible. I can't really say if it's good or not, though, from the perspective of someone experienced with that sort of thing, but it does look good to an somewhat untrained eye. Though the color transitions need work, the hands could be crisper, and the shoes had me blinking repeatedly.

Your drawings are spectacular! If you are going to post them on instagram, may I suggest scanning them instead of taking a picture of them? That'll make them look more professional when you post it.

If I knew your instagram, I would follow you, but that's against EC rules. Darn!

Crayola is an inferior brand of color pencil. Prismacolor is boss.

Your work doesn't look bad at all. I like how you did the shading with the color. It took me forever to figure out how to do that with colored pencil. (Now I don't even use colored pencil anymore, go figure.)

I do agree with what PokeGleek said about using a scanner. Looks much better that way.

Some of us can't afford Prismacolor. [IMG]

I'm kidding with you. I haven't done colored pencil work since figuring out how to do digital coloring. Looks so much better for my style of work. I do the original drawing in pencil and ink, then scan it and do all my coloring in GIMP.

I had prisma colour when I was younger... of course back then I'd no idea what I was doing.. so I threw them away.. and now I just want them back XD.
I'm trying to refrain from using copic till I master coloured pencils all the way. And thnks I'm glad you guys like it XD.. it took forever to erase and add colour.

I'm sort of debating upgrading to Prismacolors myself, right now I don't have very bright or varied colors to work with. So next time I'm not broke I might, still debating wether it's worth it since I don't earn much right now.

As for the scanner, I use one but I heard from a friend with more experience that you'll get it even better with a high power camera and good lighting. I'd probably only be drawing digital by the time I could afford something like that though, I'd have to decide between that and a screened art tablet later.
