Pretty straight forward. I just want to know if anyone else on here is scared of the dark.

I love the dark. It makes me feel secure and hidden away from all of the problems in the world. It's also annoying to have a bright light shining in your face while you're trying to sleep, so that's why it's always pitch black in my room every night.

Not of the dark, itself. I love the dark. I'm scared of what might be in the dark, and not knowing if it's there.

The dark is inconvenient, so I'm afraid of it in that way. It's harder to drive in, it's dicier to walk around a shady area, it's more hazardous if you're camping in an area with wildlife, and it's more of a hassle if ending a day hike and dusk falls because you didn't plan it correctly. I wouldn't want to be in a cemetery when it's dark, as that would be creepy, so I suppose that could also be scary.

A few years back, I was staying at my father's aunt's house for a few months. She had been put in a nursing home permanently, but for reasons too complicated to get into they couldn't list the house for sale, but somebody had to live there so the homeowners insurance wouldn't call it abandoned. Well, the thing is that she had really left everything as it was decade earlier, without changing too much so the whole place has a sort of haunted atmosphere. I would make dinner, and then hightail it up to the bedroom, and stay there for the rest of the night not going into the rest of the house. My point in replying here is that I would have to have all of the lights blazing before going outside going outside of that room for any reason.

I'm not afraid of the dark, but it can be creepy at times if you're in someone else's house and you're trying to find your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night or driving dirt road in the middle of nowhere.

I love the dark, actually. But in the climate where I live we have to worry about disease-carrying mosquitoes and criminal activity at night.

The dark doesn't particularly bother me, just only when I'm up late at night watching murder shows and I prime myself to think every single noise is an intruder. XD

I don't mind relative darkness. So long as I can see a rough outline of my surroundings, the dark can even be relaxing, but when it's pitch black? God no, get me the hell out of there.
I was walking home in the dark once, alone, and the floodlights went out. So all of a sudden, it's pitch black, there is no visibility, like none at all, I can't see my hand in front of my face, and that's not even an exaggeration. I didn't even know it could physically be that dark. Not to mention the fact that I was walking home across the park, and people get stabbed and assaulted in my area a lot. I tried using my phone torch, but the battery died and I was still just over halfway back. I walked forward blindly for a while before I saw the street lights in the distance, and found my way out of the park and onto the street by the light in the distance. It was terrifying :/ I was scared of the dark before, but after? Holy Jesus

Yep yep. I always keep a nightlight going in my room, stay under the blankets and/or set up a night guard of stuffed animals. (Don't judge, I have a bunch of them heh)
Although as Alex said it's not the dark itself, so much as what could be in it. Also I have a laughably low tolerance for horror type stuff and an active imagination, which doesn't help at all,,,,

The only time I'm afraid of the dark is when I get stuck on thinking about the Ocarina of Time Redeads. Those fvckers are scary as sh*t.

It depends on where I am.

In my house I don't mind it. I need my room to be real dark to fall asleep. In the good parts of the city and forested parts in/near the city, I find the dark calming. But in sketchier parts in te city and in the remote bush, I fear the dark :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Of the dark? No. Of course not. What is there to fear of me closing my eyes?

Of the things lurking just out of sight, in the corner of your eye when you turn a corner at night? Yes. Oh god, yes. Sometimes I really hate my job.

I sleep best in complete darkness so I've learnt to like it. I think there's something relaxing about being in the dark - it makes me feel strangely secure.

I agree that a dark alley is something else though. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I dunno, I like black holes, they're the definition of fear itself. An impenetrable perfect blackness, no light can escape

Dark college academic buildings are the worst. Zero lights, zero sound, just me and a flashlight. I hate it so much sometimes...
