What you have to keep in mind is that men and women have different brains when it comes to porn usages- on average. Men watch porn because they find the actors physically attractive, while women watch porn for the environment, and whether or not the sex acts are relatable or realistic enough. Basically, it has nothing to do with the actors itself. This means that women enjoy all sorts of porn, including genders they find unattractive (this also includes straight women watching lesbian porn which is equally as common), because the female brain can dissociate away from the actors, pretend they are different genders (or different people all together), and just focus on what the most relatable scenery is. Male brains do not do this.

So basically, here is the main answer for the OP:

Straight men like lesbian porn because they find women attractive.

Gay men like gay porn because they find men attractive.

Straight women like lesbian porn because the lesbians are pleasuring each other and not degrading each other what is normally found in straight porn.

Lesbians like gay porn because gay porn is more realistic than lesbian porn and "less offensive/male oriented", they relate to the sex acts more and the homosexuality more, but may avoid lesbian porn because it's straight male oriented.

In my experience, most lesbians who like gay porn are obviously not attracted to men since they don't care what the man looks like. It can be an elderly, balding, hairy, scarred up male with one eye for all I care- the only purpose of watching it is to relate to the sex acts and pretend the men are me and my partner. I cannot do this with lesbian porn because it is so much more inaccurate, fake, and ridiculous to get into.

 

Let's not forget the whole Yaoi/fan fiction/slash communities made up of primarily queer women! :eek:

 

I'd say (first time I hear about this...) but if that's indeed true then these women aren't homosexual but mostly homosexual with slight attraction to men. Indeed bisexuals, who probably avoid the "bi" term as this will make them seem more into guys/attention whoring and lots of thirsty hetero guys will hit on them, asking for threesomes etc. Otherwise, it makes no sense to be turned on by p*nises, muscles and male voices and say you're 100% homosexual girl.

Same with gay guys who are into lesbian porn or "straight" guys who like shemales or bi porn with guys.

Please view the above comment where I say that women view porn differently than men- lesbians who watch gay porn are not attracted to men, penises, or muscles, they are attracted to realistic scenery that is not found in lesbian porn. Most of these lesbians dissociate away from the male actors and pretend they are both women. If it was a gay man watching lesbian porn you could say he wasn't 100% homosexual because gay men have male brains and penises, they do not have female brains or vaginas, which function differently.

The vagina is designed to be aroused to everything sexual (Including rape and child porn, regardless of how 'disgusting' you mentally view it), while the female brain is designed to be attracted to personality traits and emotional environment to become aroused. The male brain and penis can be stimulated by just looks, so it is not comparable.

If you use this same logic, people who enjoy gory horror movies are not real law-abiding citizens since they are attracted to murder and would enjoy killing somebody in real life. You have to use that comparison to how women watch porn, it is NOT comparable to how men do. The vast majority of women are not attracted to strangers or pornstars anyway, so most of them are going to have an asexual reaction to strangers in porn and need something more to go off of.

It's not 100% realistic no, but in general, yes, gay porn is more realistic than lesbian porn is.

I have watched almost everything, gay, straight, lesbian- and from experience, gay porn has more condom usage, more variety in different body types, more authentic erections and pleasure, etc. Are all gay videos like that? Nope. There's plenty that fit the bad straight porn stereotype, but if you want to compare it to lesbian porn, then yes you will find M/M porn that is more realistic in higher amounts than F/F. This is due to the intended target audience.

 

I don't think porn is meant to be realistic. This becomes a problem when viewers equate what goes on in videos with what happens in real life. One lesbian who watched gay male porn said she refused to watch videos where the bottom didn't have an erection, since it meant that "he wasn't enjoying it".

There are smaller companies that target queer women, but the majority of porn is intended for and consumed by men. Women watch it, too, but their motivations and reactions are different. I'm trying to imagine a scene similar to the one on The Kids Are All Right, except with a gay couple watching lesbian porn, and can't quite see it.

Ironically, one of the complaints you hear about gay porn is that all the guys are young, twinky, white, etc. The scenes start to repeat and get stale after a while, too. That's one reason I like to switch things up.

 

I agree with you about why the lesbians watching gay porn might do so.

But I think actually this applies to most people regardless of gender or sexuality, just it is more commonly discussed as a "female thing" due to social norms (men less likely to discuss or admit to non-conventional sexuality).

I think a lot of straight men watch gay porn for the exact same reasons you have mentioned, plus others such as the element of "taboo", and "auto-erotica" (seeing a man gratified and relating on a physical level).

I'll admit I have watched lesbian or straight porn on occasion for similar reasons.

 

Gay porn more realistic, can't hide arousal? Sorry to break it to you guys, but viagra does the job well, and there are straight actors doing gay porn. Or gay actors taking viagra because scene is too, cough cough, tiring.

Gay porn, most of what I've seen, is ridiculous. Pointless ass pounding and dispassionate kisses... boring. Oh well, but maybe I react differently because my mind is female, sort of. But if so, then as a bi woman I find it difficult to react well to 99% of gay male porn. Realism? Then where is that passion? It's just moving a penis in someone's hole with a face focused on not ejaculating too soon.

Well, now that I'm replying to this thread, I do have a friend who's interested in women, but claimed the reason they don't like lesbian porn (despite being attracted to women) and watches gay porn instead is because they can't handle watching the women's "front hole area". I guess this is related to this thread, but I don't think I contributed much.

I'm on this thread hearing all this talk about realistic gay porn and I kind of have to question wtf people are referring to. I haven't watched a lot of porn, mainly because the overwhelming majority of it is terrible to an ungodly degree but all of the porn I have watched is gay porn, and there is nothing realistic about any of it. The scenarios are all stupid and forced and from what I can tell most men in gay porn are actually straight, so the sex stuff is super fake too. If this is honestly supposed to be realistic, I don't even want to know how atrocious straight and lesbian porn is.

 

I disagree. I don't think people should have their metaphorical gay card taken away because they like a certain kind of porn that doesn't line up with their sexuality. Porn preference and sexual preference are separate.

 

Strange as it sounds, I can relate more to the penis-hating how-can-you-find-men-arousing lesbians than enjoying-gay-porn lesbians.
