I made a reservation to spend a whole week in complete darkness without any electronic devices in a cabin with just a bed, meditation mattress and sanitary facility. There's a person who brings you food daily (raw vegan food, vegan food, vegetarian food or gluten-free food... or you can fast if you want) and who talks to you if you want/need to.
People who experienced this found it therapeutic (I read about a girl who completely healed her anorexia), spiritual (it's said it takes 3 days to start looking inward)... and even somewhat scary. Well, I assume that to be in the dark with just your thoughts for 7 days can be pretty rough, I still want to try this and am looking forward to experience this. Would you? Btw my biggest worry is that there could be a mosquito in the room. :icon_wink

Sounds terrifying to me. You can go crazy if you stay isolated for too long, and I don't do too well on my own.

Sounds interesting, but mostly creepy. And I've never used the bathroom in the dark. I'm not skilled enough.

It isn't my idea of fun, but I hope it works for you.

I'd only do it if they paid me $1,000,000+ and gave me half of the moolah upfront lol

    I'd do it. Totes.

There have been discoveries of ancient man-made "caves" (quite small, big enough for two people ish), where, supposedly, people could sit and shut out the world outside and focus on their inner thoughts.

I can't imagine wanting more darkness and solitude. I have plenty of that in Finland

I would do it. I love darkness.

However, wouldn't 7 days be enough to start hallucinations? I'll read about this :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I thought it meant listening to the darkness. I was wondering how Rock music could help

I'm horribly afraid of the dark, so no. Never. Ever.

The waiting list is pretty long though so I have to wait until June to find out. The good thing is that you can end it anytime you want, it's not a shame.

Oh, I didn't think about this... hm, but I think I can manage. Should I start with a training?

The longest period you can spend in there is 49 days. I wonder if you still do that for the same money.

    That's interesting.

    :roflmao:

Well, there's a person who said he was having illusions of seeing his hands so it's possible. On the other hand we're made of light so was it really just an illusion?

Can you get scared when you don't see them though? It's actually how it helps people with anorexia - they can't see their body in there and it helps them to change their body image.

No Internet - this one is gonna be tough for sure!

I knew a guy who worked in a photographic dark room over winter. He was working seven days a week, days off he was working on his own prints and hardly saw sunlight. What he described sounded like hell and it's not something I'd want yo experience.

I've spent more than 7 days, in darkness, not sure if it's therapeutic. but i spent it because the electric bill was too high , it didn't do anything to me, but that's just me.

Eating food in the dark would be kind of weird. Lol
