I think the only way to get an accurate, representative answer to that question would be to host the survey somewhere where the moderators can't see who answers what. Most people are pretty unwilling to say things that might make them unpopular if how they voted was identified. This is especially true if one's saying negative things about people who hold a lot of power. Plus, to be fair, a yes/no question doesn't really capture any kind of the complexity which moderating entails. Someone might say "no" because they think the moderators should be harsher with people who are annoying or bend/break rules but someone else might answer "no" because they think the moderators are far too harsh with people who are annoying or bend/break rules. One way to do survey construction is to use a series of declarative statements with which people have a range of options from disagree to agree or strongly disagree to strongly agree... stuff like that. Even that is prone to flaws because one person's interpretation of "disagree" might be a lot stronger than someone else's. But it would definitely give you more information to work with. |
