I'm going to Eurovision in Stockholm in April and May! I know that alone sounds like torture for some of you (!) but it's an absolute dream come true for me. Unfortunately, I can be a very negative and pessimistic person, and instead of thinking, "What am I going to wear? Where should I go out to eat? I can't wait for May to come already!," I'm wondering when something bad will happen. I'm worried about something going wrong and ruining my trip/experience.

When you have these negative thoughts that ruin your excitement and fun, how do you brush them aside? Thank you guys so much.

I think about the possibilities of others. I tell myself today is the day someone probably got married, fell in love, got new car, a raise, made a new friend, started a project, or finished one. Every day is a day full of limitless potential and the outcomes are numerous. Just wake up each day without any expectations or say an affirmation. What helps me is whenever I'm getting ready in the mirror I always say today is gonna be a good day.

You're going to Eurovision? I envy you! I love it! I wish you all the best there, I hope it'll be amazing! :icon_bigg

Well, you can try to reduce risks, right? Unexpected things can always happen, but you cannot change that. You can only reduce risks. So as long as you're doing that, there's not really a need to worry. =)

It's Eurovision, gosh! You should be excited! Get over with those irrational fears. All the best to you! :icon_bigg

I always think that worrying just destroys the moment.
I worry a lot too- but the thing about worrying is that it makes you feel bad even though nothing bad even happened! And if something bad really were to happen - you can still feel bad when it actually does happen.
So there's no need to worry in advance so to say; I try to live in the moment as good as possible.

Missing a flight, losing the wallet, getting chased by angry men, losing the passport, breaking the hotel room key...
I'm remembering all the bad things that have happened to me. Good luck!

Im very similar, I will worry about everything. Even the smallest things.

Maybe tell yourself that you are going no matter what so there is no point in thinking this way. Worrying just wastes time really.

Well I just think about waking up before the sun comes up to get to the airport in time and then how fun it will be to go through security and wait to board the plane and then how fun it will be to politely ask the person to please close there shade as I get light headed then landing and then get there and oh yea it's so much fun.

I tend to find that I can't get rid of the negativity before any event/place I visit until I'm actually there. Then I have a great time! Maybe you'll be the same with Eurovision - I hope you enjoy it, by the way. Just make sure you have a Union Flag ready to wave

I'm the same way unfortunately :/ It's a shame to be that way when something isn't happening in the immediate future.
