This includes paranormal, non-paranormal, etc. Pretty much anything that hasn't been made-up, and that is your story.

And just in case you're worried, yes I am a writer, and no, I will not use, copy, or parody any story without your knowledge and consent.

And site rules still apply; No full names, don't share your information, etc.

Please keep it somewhat PG-13, and remember; If you aren't comfortable with sharing it, nobody's twisting your arm. Share what you want to, when you want to.

And just a final word to all those who might want to start sh*t: If you don't believe in the paranormal, that's fine. If you do believe in the paranormal, that's fine. Either way, be respectful with your opinion. EC is a place for open-mindedness, listening and peaceful co-existence. A lot of us come here to escape from bullies, so don't be one.
Let's not call anyone's beliefs stupid, or say that they themselves are stupid.

Live and let live, m'kay? I will report anyone who decides to be a bastard. Keep it respectful, keep it civilized, and have some fun.

I guess I'll kick it off then.

For the sake of people's eyes, I'll put my story in spoilers:

I live in a fairly rural area, and it's certainly crazier than most. There's a schizophrenic drug addict/dealer who refuses to take his meds just down the street from me who hates my entire family, and knows we hate him, yet is still bold enough to bring his dog over to our house (without a leash, which was one of the reasons our altercation began - his dog kills our pets and attacks people when unrestrained) and asks to use our phone.
There is a boy who lives across the street whose mother actually warned my mother that he seems like the type of guy who might try to rape me. I used to play with him, but now he hates me because I didn't want to play anymore.
There are violent homophobes, neo-nazis, rapists, and more in my area, and I have a lot of interesting stories to tell, but for the sake of this thread, I'll just stick with this one.

When I was younger (I can't remember how old - it's been a long time - I was maybe four?), a man came through my neighborhood with a pony. He came up to my house and asked my parents if I wanted to ride the pony. I did, of course, not being old enough to have proper "stranger danger" instincts yet, but my parents said no. He just made them uncomfortable, and they were very protective of me. He left, and I don't think that anyone on my block rode the pony, which is good. Looking back, he even makes ME uncomfortable. He just seemed not okay in some way. There was just this look of wrong in his eyes, and the way he looked at me felt too overeager to just be a man giving the innocent joy of horseriding to young children.
Some time later, my mother saw on the news that the same man had been arrested for molesting his own daughter. I don't know what happened to him after that.
Just thinking about what could have happened to me, a small, innocent little blond baby girl, gives me chills, and I am forever thankful for my mother's prudence when she told him that I wasn't allowed, and sent him away.

I have a few more, but they'll have to wait for another time.

    What's your story?

Also, if your story is particularly long, you might want to put it in spoilers.
For those who don't know, you make spoilers by typing [ spoiler ] (YOUR TEXT HERE) [ / spoiler] without the spaces.

    Have a good day!

Since life seems to hate me with a passion, I have a lot of true scary stories. But this one is definitely the most terrifying.

I decided to go outside at night, typically I don’t go out at night, but I just had an argument with my mother, which ended with me leaving, slamming the door shut. I decided to walk over to the local coffee shop and enjoy the free wifi there as well as cool down. But after awhile of scrolling through the internet, I decided that I would just continue going for a walk as I drank my iced coffee.

I left the shop and began walking down the street, still thinking about the argument. As I reached the corner of the street and I waited for the walking signal to appear to tell me to cross the street, I saw a man with his face covered in shadows, so I couldn’t see his face, all that I could see of him was his yellow Hawaiian shirt. Originally, I thought it was weird that someone else would be out at a time like this, but I just shrugged it off.

But as soon as I crossed the street, he began to run towards me. I swiftly turned around and ran back across the street, not even caring to see if any cars were coming. I crossed the street and for a brief moment, I felt relieved since I figured that he wouldn’t follow me across the street. Unfortunately, I was proven wrong when I turned to look over my shoulder and saw him still coming towards me.

I began to run as fast as I can, I didn’t know what he wanted, but I didn’t want to find out. I ran as fast as I could, but when I looked over my shoulder, he was right behind me, getting extremely closer. The adrenaline in my body began to run though my body even faster, making me run even faster than I thought I could.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of sirens and I looked behind me to see the guy running back away from me, he must have figured that the sirens were coming from a police car. I continued running just in case, later finding the source of the sirens coming from an ambulance that drove by. I ran all the way back home, just in case that he saw the ambulance and decided to chase after me again.

When I got home, I slammed on the front door, not wanting to waste the time to find my keys in my pocket. My mom opened the door and I rushed in, closing the door and collapsed onto the couch.

none believes me when i tell this story, but i swear this is 100% true....

So, i was about 11 years old when this happened, so this like november-december 2012. I think i had just come back from visiting my dad by myself (my parents are divorced) and he was giving me a ride back to where where we were living. As we stepped out of the car, and into the driveway to house, an old man approached us. Well, he didn't look too old, mabye late 40's early 50's, he was white, and he was wearing a black jacket. He came up to us and he was waving a cd case at our faces. He was begging us to take a copy of black-ops 2 from him! He kept saying that it was like the latest game for kids my age out right now and stuff. But we turned it down. He went away walking sadly. When i around to see if he was still there, he was gone. That seemed oretty fast, like he just disappeared out of thin air...my dad dropped me off at the house, and life went on as usual. This story kinda scares me looking back, because it's really similiar to the "ben drowned" creepypasta" (which involves and old man giving a cursed game out for free, akin to my actual story.)and when i tell it people always think i'm lying. But i swear that rhis story is 100% true.

childhood with my siblings (an age ago) a friend of my family that lived in one of our apartments (he worked doing tarot stuff) left the city and left his things behind for months, during the nights you could hear things bashing, furniture being hit out loudly while the place remained locked with no one inside, one time with my siblings we Heard some loud steps coming from the backyard (like someone running in a hurry) we knew there was no one there at the time, (window was open but was night time) we closed the kitchen door on a hurry and after we did slam! the door took some loud hits like someone punching it from behind, a bit after we searched and nothing to be found, i'm also a writer btw, use it if you want or share
disclaimer: when this guy returned to get his things with him, nothing weird ever happened twice

The footsteps through the window gave me a decent horror idea. If you'd like to hear it, Spiderstalker, message me!

Anyway, this next story of mine is ongoing in the house I live in now, and is somewhat freaky.

I can't remember how old I was when this first thing happened. I think I might have maybe been six or so, but I was young enough for my grandma on my father's side to have been alive, so it was definitely under ten.
When I was around that young, I was a pretty straight-laced little girl, and I wasn't into horror or anything yet, so it wasn't just my imagination feeding on what I saw on TV or in video games. It was too far before even seeing my dad play scary or really weird games to be a factor, or anything similar.

Anyway, my dad was VERY definitely out of the house; He was on a cross-country trip to see my grandma, and I hadn't even seen a picture of him in a while.
There is nobody around here who can be mistaken for my dad in any way, and he has a very definite presence.

    Before I begin, let me tell you about the layout of my parent's bathroom;
There are two doors, but one is always shut, so you can see only about half their bed, and a strip of the wall behind it when you are standing in the room. There is a sink against the wall to the left of the open door, and the shower is to the right. Across the room from the door is another sink, and on the other side of a divider wall is the toilet. There is a very large mirror over either sink.
Little me was going into my parent's bathroom for some reason, looking through the clothes on top of the non-operational sink or something. I was alone in that half of the house, as my mother was on the computer on the other side of the house.
I was looking through the clothes on the sink, and happened to look up into the mirror, which reflected the doorway.
There was nothing for a moment, then I VERY CLEARLY saw my father walk around the doorframe. I even felt a footstep vibrate the floor.
I spun around and - you guessed it - nobody was there. I looked through the entire house and he wasn't there. I spoke with my mother and she reassured me that my father was not in the house, or even in the state.
Something that was really wrong with this is that my father's coloring looked off. It wasn't his skin or hair color, it was him in general; He looked like he was in heavy shadow, even
    though the room was lit.
Also, he didn't look like "then" him; he looked like he does now, which is very different indeed. He has more grey in his hair now, which is also shorter, and a different style of glasses frame. But it was him.

Seeing as our relationship has somewhat worsened, what with fighting, bickering, and in-general bumping heads, I wonder if that was a premonition of the rough times ahead.

I don't know if that was a ghost or demon mimicking him, a premonition like I said, a waking dream/hallucination, or something else entirely, but all I know is:
    I was definitely awake.
I was definitely not in the mental state to dream or hallucinate him.
    I definitely saw him.
And he was definitely not there.
I wasn't even missing him terribly at that point, but I saw him. And strange occurrences - seeing things, smelling things, hearing things and even physically feeling things - have been going on for a long time.

I'll put this next round of stories in another spoiler.

    Part 2

This has been going on for several years in this same house. As far as I know, nothing horrible or bloody has happened in this trailer (as it's new, relatively speaking), so it must be something to do with the property itself. There's something up with this little chunk of land.
It's not just in my house - things have happened everywhere on these few acres - so I know that there's something wrong with this land, maybe even the whole neighborhood.
But I'll start with the house things for some order:

I always see things out of the corner of my eye in my house - which on its own isn't necessarily freaky or paranormal, or even strange, I know, but keep reading - which usually have the same shape or color every time I see them and sometimes move or are visibly moving when I notice them. On top of that, they're almost always in or near the same area in my house.
The things I see are normally about the size of a larger animal or crouching human, with caucasian human coloring, and they are normally in or just outside of my bathroom. However, I've seen at least one farther away, around the entrance to my parent's bedroom.
Sometimes, they look like they're crabwalking on the ceiling or crawling on the ground and peeking around the corner. They seem to have appendages, and one I've seen had something long on its head that looked like light red hair.
Once, I looked straight at one as it ducked back around a corner before I could get a good look at it. It had paler coloring and was low to the ground, and practically flew back around the corner.
I was equal parts frightened and angry at this point of the shenanigans, so I marched down the hall and around the corner to do something (I have no idea what - I was just very angry and scared) and was greeted with a closed door, nothing on the ceiling, walls, or floor.
My father was in that room and had noticed nothing, and my bathroom (open door - but completely empty) was right next to that room.
They usually seem to be looking at me in particular (I haven't seen a face, but I can tell from the body positioning and how they're angled) and even appear in bright light, though almost never in the day time. I see them in all moods and all levels of restfulness; from depressed and angry to laughing my ass off at Markiplier playing Rocket League with his friends, and from zombie-like exhaustion to bright and clear wakefulness.
They also seem to be able to understand me when I mention them out loud in the house, and I see them more for a while afterwards, but I'm not sure about the internet, sooooo....

    Part 3

And then there's the bathroom itself.
    Little backstory here:
My bathroom shower/tub is not properly hooked up to the water supply, so I shower in my parents' bathroom and we use my tub for storage. My mom hates how messy it looks, so she insists on keeping the curtain closed when we have company.
I HATE this for some reason. Always have hated it, even before I noticed things being wrong.
I just always feel like something is on the other side and wants to hurt me.
And when this started, I had never watched a horror movie with a shower curtain in it. I doubt I'd even watched a horror movie at that age.
I don't really even watch horror movies NOW, as I like reading/audiobooks/games more, and I can't remember a story I've read or game I've played with that sort of thing in it.
It's just this pervasive discomfort, and whenever I see the curtain closed, I have to open it, or it will creep me out more and more every time I look at it.
    That's not all.
Sometimes when I sit down on the toilet to use the bathroom, or even just to sit and do my makeup with a better light, I'll get this overwhelming feeling of someone sitting next to me in the bathtub. It's just that feeling I get, just like I'd get if I were sitting on a couch next to a friend.
It seems to like the bathtub, and that's usually how it is.
However, when I'm having a good day or listening to music I really like, it seems to like following me around and making me feel uncomfortable. When not in the bathroom, it's at a distance, say by the front door when I'm closer to the chairs, or by my pet turtle's terrarium when I'm at the sink.
Its presence is definite, and it doesn't seem friendly in the least bit.
It always seems predatory, like it's toying with me. It even seems sexually predatory sometimes, like it's just looking me up and down with this huge smile on its face.
I can feel where it is in the room, not so much a feeling of being watched, or sounds or anything, but more like you can tell where someone is by feeling their footsteps through the floor, hearing their breathing, or just by their presence in the room, like you can track their movements just from knowing that they're there. It's just this instinct that tells me he or she or it is by the birdcage or the kitchen sink, or wherever it wants to stand that day.
And that sexually-predatory feeling I sometimes get from it? It's made worse by the touching.
    That's right. It touches me.
Not like flesh-and-blood touching, where you feel its skin on yours, or feel warmth or cold.
It's not cobwebby or overly cold or even like someone is grabbing me violently.
It's sort of like when someone pushes down on your shoulder or squeezes your arm, for example, through a windbreaker or thick sweater, and you can't feel their fingers, but you can feel the pressure, if that makes sense.
It doesn't hurt, it's just uncomfortable - a slow, steady pressure that just feels gross and wrong. I usually have to squirm really wildly to break its grip, and even then it might not let go.
It's never actually groping or sexual, just borderline. Instead of my breasts, it's my ribs close to my breasts, or where my breast joins to my chest, or the inside of my upper arm, or somewhere close to but not on the inappropriate parts of my body.
For my crotch, it's my hipbone or my inner thigh, or under my belly button, or somewhere close.
For my bottom, it's my hips, or the outermost edge of my buttcheek, the small of my back, or just under my bottom on my thighs, and so on.
It's frightening, but at least it hasn't actually touched me THERE yet. And all of this happens rarely enough to keep me from losing my mind.

And, of course, there are noises. I know, I know, there are weird noises in pretty much every story about ghosts or demons or whatever the hell this thing is, but these are actually pretty strange.
We have crappy floors, that creak at certain points in the house, so I can hear people moving from across the house, and I can often pinpoint exactly where someone is in the house. I can hear when my father is leaving our "office", for example, from the living room, without hearing his actual footsteps.
At night, in my room, I frequently hear someone shifting their weight on the floors between the bathroom and the office. On top of that, I hear scratching, thumping, and movement on our roof sometimes at night. I also hear muffled, unintelligibly quiet voices and thumps when I turn on my bedroom's noisy little fan and try to sleep. These noises increase in volume with every setting on my fan. I've been listening to music and heard unfamiliar voices calling out my name just as clear as if they're right behind me(when nobody is there, and nobody has yelled, especially not for me, in the house).

Also, nothing seems to really happen in my bedroom... which is the room that I, as a Pagan (for lack of a better word) have set the most wards/blessings on. This implies that it's something demonic, or at least bad. I don't even get the touching in my room unless the door is open and I'm standing near it.

    Part 4

    Anyway, enough about my house.

In my front yard, there is a tall fence overgrown by various ivies, obscured by bushes, etc.
There is a large opening that serves as a gate adjacent to my house.
It was at this fence that I saw the most confusing phenomena in my yard.
It was late at night, and I was taking out my dog to put her on her little run so she could pee. It was maybe three AM, but I was really awake and alert, and this was obvious enough, and attention-getting enough to not have been a sleep-deprived hallucination.
I looked out into the darkness, still holding my dog, and saw a pair of literally glowing yellow eyes. They were big enough and far-apart enough to have been a fairly sizable animal if they were just within the shadows, but they were low to the ground and right next to the fence, so it definitely wasn't just a dog with reflecting eyes. The idea that the eyes were reflecting doesn't make sense either. They were glowing yellow.
I thought at first and immediately after that they could have just been reflecting my street light or the porch light, but both lights were blue, not yellow, and when it turned away from the light, they didn't stop glowing.
After a few tense seconds of it looking at me, looking away, then looking back, and me standing frozen like a deer in the headlights with my completely oblivious and somewhat bored dog in my arms, it turned and leaped seemingly through or over the fence (it was too dark to tell) with a rustling crash, and disappeared. My neighbor also has a street light by his house, and nothing appeared in that pool of light, and nothing went by on the part of the street visible through my gate, so there's only one place it could have gone; into a pit of weeds on the other side of the street that leads into the woods.
My dog heard the noise and started freaking out, so I took her back inside and sat with her for a while before we went back out, then went to bed without incident.

I've seen a few things in the backyard too, mostly ambiguous big animals with reflecting red eyes, but they could be anything as my area has coyotes, opossums, stray dogs, big cats, and even wolves. But from the way they moved, what little I saw of their bodies, coloring, and the sheer size of some (such as one that looked and moved like a canine, but bigger than a bear) I doubt very much that it was any of those.
The touching, strange noises and feelings, etc, have continued outside of the house, but the sightings of the bathroom things remain around the bathroom, and nothing strange has happened anywhere off my property.

Anyway, believe it or not, this is what happens to me all the time.
If you would like to use something in my story, please let me know, and I certainly hope that nothing like this happens to you. As infrequent as these things are, they are still frightening, even terrifying, and I wish I could say that nothing happened while writing this, but that would be a lie. That presence I mentioned touched me again, lightly though.

Anyway, I really enjoy seeing you guys on here, with only one joke story so far. I actually got pretty freaked out at Spiderstalker's story, and got a pretty good idea from it.
I'll wait to use it until he gives his approval, but I hope he does, because it's good!

you have my approval and i certainly want to hear the story idea  also, i remembered few other events that happened around the same time, i was like 12 back there so memories span randomly i thought on sharing it too in case you can use it:

1: (also the time that dude left his stuff) i forgot to add before the door slam thing, the usual nights were odd in the same terms, for example nothing like that time but also to add that i used to hear a ''sensation'' or ''someone'' mildly being inside our house which was close to the apartment, i remember one time i could hear noises on the ''stews'' and kitchenette in general like someone being there silently using stuff, small tools sounding but particularly the stews in the kitchenette was the one i recall the most.

2: (unrelated with the dude but happened in the same apartment) was when my cousin's grandma died back then, he must of been around 20 years old, he was staying to sleep on the place because it was empty but had a bed and like two chairs, the night after he was freaked out of his mind jumped a Wall at 3am to get to our side of the house that back then was divided by that wall, when morning came he was pale white smoking an entire pack of cigarettes nervously and frightened, he then told he had seen his grandma entering by the apartment door and he was clearly not dreaming or anything, point is he rushed out of the place never wanted to get back there to sleepover.

These ones came rushing back to my memories so thought on sharing and don't doubt on using anything you find interesting  (by the way, i read your new posts and perhaps seems like you have an extra-sensorial perception for those kind of things, which i don't think it's uncommon

My brother and I were driving around UMASS campus like 10 years ago when we both went there. We were coming from the gym or something when we saw this giant green ball of fire blazing through the sky. No idea what it was... but it might have been some sort of missle or meteor or some alien. Never seen anything like it before. Like think a fireball from street fighter... but green blasting across the sky. We weren't the only ones who saw it that night.

This interested me, i found this on the wikias:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_fireballs

This is the first time i hear of it but seems those fireballs have been sighted in the U.S since the early 1940's

I wake up early one morning feeling really light headed and confused. I get up and start stumbling around the house. It felt like I was dreaming – everything had this hazy light around it.

I know something isn’t right – but what?

I notice that something smells strange – something smells like propane.

I stumble into the kitchen and see that my roommate somehow left the gas range stove on before he went to bed the night before, but there is no flame.

Then it hits me: Holy smokes, there has been propane being pumped into my house all night long and I’m experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning!

I immediately turn the stove off and open every single door and window in the entire house – despite the fact that it’s below freezing outside.

I’ve never danced with death so closely before. Carbon monoxide poisoning often kills people in their sleep because it’s tasteless and odorless.

Needless to say, the roommate and I had a spirited “chat” that day.

Moral of the story: get a carbon monoxide alarm!!!
