    is it banned to post a game link and ask if people play it and start a discution if people do?

    I don't see why not if it's a suggestion(rather than an ad).

    It is, however, against the rules to ask such a question :badgrin:

    No, but saying anything that would result in people being able to locate you in said game would be.

    AFAIK, it isn't against the rules to ask if people play a game, nor is it against the rules to discuss games that people play.

    However, you will get into trouble if you ask people for their in-game name (if it is a MMO or the like) or if people post their in-game name.

    That is correct. Discussing what games you play etc is fine.

    But giving or asking for gaming IDs, names or whatever is against the rules. Anything that could allow contact between members off-site can only be shared by PMs between full members.

    We have seen a couple of cases where people have posted screenshots with their names shown, so don't try this... :wink:
