    OK, which do you like better? For me, Pancakes are the clear choice. Fluffy, easy to butter, you can add blueberries and make many easy variations, and they don't seem as cloyingly sweet as many waffles, nor do they have all those pesky holes. I'll eat a waffle here and again, but it's pancakes I love, because they are best.

    Sounds like waffles to me, too. If anything, I find waffles hold that 'variation flavor' -a lot- better than pancakes, those 'pesky holes' being one of the reasons. Pancakes, on the other hand, are like black holes - they suck absorb the flavoring in, never to be seen tasted again.

    While they can be good, I'll toss a stack of pancakes out the window when waffles are in sight.


    Then again, traditional fluffy pancakes and waffles can both fuck off when crêpes enter the scene.

    Exactly! Pancakes have a simple, Zen-like beauty that these waffle-lovers fail to grasp.

    Plus, just the idea of a nice stack of light, fluffy pancakes, with a touch of unsalted butter, and some genuine Vermont maple syrup beats any of the garish, over-blown 'charms' a waffle might have!

    Also, 'waffle' is a verb, as in to flip-flop, or be wishy-washy and indecisive. No such claim can be made about pancakes.

    Let's stop waffling, and vote Pancake.

    I prefer waffles. You get more of them, whereas pancakes are just flat and may as well not exist as they're almost nothing.

    Pancakes without a doubt are the best. There are so many varieties: blueberry, buckwheat, sour dough, silver dollars, blini for caviar, blintzes, latkes, crepes, buttermilk, stuffed with cream cheese and topped with Bananas Foster, topped with clotted cream and good wild strawberry conserves, topped with good butter and real maple syrup. The list goes on there are event oatmeal pancakes. They are found in every culture from Denmark to Ethiopia to India to Indonesia. They're universal, diverse, and oh so tasty. By comparison a waffle is at best a poor cousin.

    Ya all keep mentioning all these pancake varieties and paraphernalia you like to throw on them as positives, but all I'm listening is that pancakes are so bland you need to throw something else in them to make them worth eating :grin:
