Hmmm, this is very interesting. Email reads as follows: "Allies is a Mount student led organization (affiliated with Campus Ministry) for women and men with homosexual inclinations and those who care for them. It will provide a welcoming environment, pastoral outreach, a positive social outlet and dialogue reflecting on relevant issues including the dignity and gift of each and every person. Allies strives to promote and live the Christian call to healthy relationships, compassion, chastity and justice. For more information about meeting time and location, please contact" The wording on the first paragraph sounds a bit awkward in my opinion. Should be interesting to check out.
So straight people are just heterosexual, gay people have "homosexual inclinations"? I smell bullshit.
Yup... that's why I thought the wording was a bit... off. I don't know. Haha, it is a catholic institution dealie so I'm a bit wary of this one.
The "homosexual inclinations" makes me highly suspicious. I'd find out more but be very suspicious. Be forewarned!
I agree with everyone else. It sounds a little bull-shitty. What is the "christian call to healthy relationships" supposed to be?
Oh my god-those people are working on a youth site. Quick-EC do something! Make EC pop up on a google search for "catholic homosexual inclinations".
I honestly don't think it sounds like such a bad thing, and the critiscism being directed towrds i think is quite unfair
What you're observing is actually a big part of the Christian anti-gay strategy. They deliberately strive to redefine words to muddle the conversation. In Christian parlance, the only people who are "gay" are those who unrepentantly come out as gay and live openly. To Christians, anyone else has "same-sex attraction." So, for this flyer to use the words "homosexual inclinations" is not only suspicious, it's the dead giveaway. Stay the hell away from this program and work on getting it off campus. All it is is ex-gay Christian bullshit with a bit of perfume sprayed on it. Do some study on ex-gay programs and pay attention to the Christian anti-gay right and how they operate and try to deprive gay people of their rights. If you actually know what they're trying to do and how they operate, you'd understand why there's so much criticism being heaped on this program.
As great a group like that sounds, from the email they are sending out... I personally wouldn't go. They don't make it sound too welcoming or accepting.
Yeah... definitely sounds a bit suspect the more I mull it over in my mind. One day, I guess I'll check it out and if they chase after me with a cross trying to exorcise my demons I'll slink out...
