:smilewave Hello. Just a little thought I had as I was walking around philosophizing - If I could name only three, which, would I say, are my most basic emotions? And that is, without referring to any specific research or whatnot, but just how I would describe myself. Just at the top of my head, in other words. For me, I think I'd say:

Anger. I'm a real hothead sometimes and I can really flare up at the least spark. I have a hard time controlling this anger, as well. This anger can be both anger at some injustice or more personal anger.

Restlessness. I'm always thinking "what to do, what to do" and always looking for the next project to pursue, even when I'm tired and feel like I don't have the energy for it. I require quite a lot of stimuli, as well as to feel that what I do matters somehow.

Love. Love is my strongest positive emotion. I can have it for many different things, like family, friends, movements, humanity, a pet animal, animals in general, the natural world... It's a nice feeling.

Anyway, feelings are good to talk about and stuff, they need air once in a while, so if you feel like you want to contribute you're more than welcome. ^_^

I suppose I mainly feel optimism, pessimism, and apathy.

Optimism because sometimes, I am an optimist. I'm always expecting the positive to happen, even if it's unrealistic. I'd rather not keep worrying.

At the same time, I can also be a pessimist, thinking there is no real point in anything, it would all amount to nothing in the end...years later when the world is gone.

But over those two, I feel apathetic more than anything. I'm usually detached from what's happening so I don't get affected by it. I'd consider this emotion neutral.

I guess one of them is constantly being pissed off by how people act or just something that has happened is one. Another is being almost hopeless and feeling so lost and just needing a hug. The last one is you could say is love because it is when I want to help as many people as possible and I am always optimistic when I am like this.

Uhhh pretty much anxiety, empathy and resentment.
I guess the ability to easily empathize with people is good, but I desperately need to get rid of the anxiety and resentment.

Love: In many senses, as in the enjoyment and finding pleasure in things, whether intellectual, sexual, or love of beauty, of a hobby, &c.

Fear: Of death, economic ruin, disease, loss.

Laughter/Humor: Perhaps not an emotion, but a way to help balance things.

As Nietzsche said, 'A sense of humor is a sense of proportion'

Irritability - I get irritable with myself and others and a lot of things that don't go to plan.

Anxiety - I can be quite an anxious person, not all the time but about certain things it can really get on top of me. It's a pain in the ass because it can really hinder me from doing things and is pretty stressful.

I'm sure there must be a good emotion that I feel often, I just can't think of one... at all.

I'll just go with content - This, for me, means getting through the day and realising that I didn't spend a second feeling like I wanted to die, nothing darastically bad happened. Life is a lot better and you could almost say I'm happy now, just a few more changes and I could definitely see 'genuinely happy' being a prominent emotion.

I'm always either obsessed about something, depressed about everything, or angry at myself/my mother/occasional other people. The obsession weaves in elements of love and excitement and the depression weaves in elements of anxiety and fear.

I have no clue. While other people claim that i am rather empathic I'm not in touch with any of my emotions no matter how hard i try it's either emptiness or a confusing mix of everything i don't understand.
So if i had to pick three basics they'd probably be curiosity (my main driving force) frustration (at everything and everyone but mostly myself) and impatience or concern (those are sometimes linked).

Numbness: This is how I would describe my state of my mind when I start asking myself what the point of everything I do is anymore. I alternate between this one and the next one, usually.

Ecstatic: This is what I feel when I'm super motivated, get into a lot of projects, finish all my homework in one day, sleep only 6 hours a day etc. Those last a few days, generally.

Good: I would say this is my neutral state. When I can balance the two above, I'm just kind of going through life at my own pace, but without wanting to throw everything in the trash and doing nothing. That's how I feel most of the time if nothing comes in to shift my mood.

Optimistic: all is right in my world and I'm looking towards the future.
Pessimistic: everything is falling apart and I have no safety net, leads to depression :frowning2:
Stressed: school, work, mom, life, it all makes me want to scream sometimes.

Envy: I have a problem in this one.

Anger: Anger is one of the most common things a person may feel. Sometimes, I am just a little angry, and others make me wish that killing was legal.

Anxiety: I can't explain this one, I can be very anxious most of the time.
