Hey all! I'm looking to escape the U.S. for a bit and walk the Camino de Santiago through northern Portugal this summer. Has anyone done this, or visited this region, or heard anything about traveling there as an LGBT human? Does anyone know about general LGBT friendliness, about possible erm socializing opportunities, etc? Would any American dating apps/websites work there?

Just one question: is it really necessary to promote yourself as LGBT just to do the walk? Can't you just do it for the fun of the thing?

You should be fine anywhere in Portugal. Do as you would in the US. You don't really have to worry about your sexuality in Western Europe.

It's not. But I tend to be somewhat visible, so I want to know how much I have to tone down for it.
