Idk much about computers but it seems like this could be made with simple HTML. Of course, the last time I coded anything in HTML was 7 years ago. Is it even used still? Aha
So... do it in some way you do know? Java's been on the downswing of popularity for years now anyway. On the other hand, with Unreal and Crytek releasing their game engines for free, it's never been easier to make a sweet-looking 3d game. You might want to consider it if not too intimidated by the accompanying infrastructure above that of a text game.

You're welcome. I find the Unreal engine really easy to work with because I used similar programs in my game design class, but it's not too bad to learn and there's tons of tutorials for how to do whatever you want. The only difficulty arises if you want to make your own assets that don't come pre-installed, because you need different software for that.
