Do you have a Starbucks name? I mean a pseudonym which you use for ordering because it's easier to spell/pronounce than your real name? My local branch resolutely goes against the stereotype: whichever name I give them, no matter how straightforward, they will ask me to spell it. But they didn't have a problem with the person in front of me called Jeremy!

At the starbucks I have been to they always get the names of people very wrong.

For example if someone's name was Kristy they would most likely put 'Crysti' :roflmao:

My legal name is Paul and I also go by Paul, but I've gotten some baristas that have used "Saul," "Cole," and other phonetic variations (at least based on how I seem to pronounce it lol).

"Miles" is a fairly straightforward name and I've never had trouble with it before, though I do believe once someone spelled it "Myles". I have considered before trying out a new name just to see what it would be like to be called something else. But then I worry I wouldn't remember that I had said that other name and they'd be calling "me" and I'd just be sitting there waiting to hear my real name.

It's longer than my actual name but a lot of people call me "Katie" because it's a far more common name down here. When I correct them they always act so surprised.

I like having a short and simple name, though I actually used to have a therapist who always mispronounced it as "Kera" and I thought it was pretty funny.

I should just say, "my name is Foxy."

That would be funny and only halfway untrue.

I don't like this practice so I always give them a fake name anyway. Usually I try to make it hard to pronounce or then I just used absurd ethnic name like Achmed or Vijay and when they ask me to spell it I spell it but add fictional letters to them. The baristas must hate me.

The misspelling is a marketing technique by the way. I'm tempted to use my female name some time just to see how that goes. I generally give my middle name.

It's not that common in Germany that they ask for your name, but if they do they spell my name wrong most times even though it's a very easy name (Jana), at least for Germans.
In America they never got my name right but I can understand that since they probably aren't used to the pronunciation.

I just say my name is John.

If they want a second name I give Smith.

    I know not very original...lol

I use the name Erin at Starbucks.

First: I normally go with my friends and family, and I'm not out to them yet.

Second: Erin is much easier to spell than Quennell. (though I did have a barista spell it 'Earn' once...)

My real name's pretty damn hard to spell properly. Starbucks where I live don't normally ask for a name, and if they do on occasion I usually go with whatever simple name comes up at the top of my head.

I have yet to feel up to using Jake/Jacob, but I'd definitely want to do that (probably when I'm not around family).

My name is Aaron - I pronounce it as Ah-ren but some people pronounce it Air-ron, and some people spell it Arron. Not that big of a deal - a lot of the time I don't bother correcting people. I wouldn't use a fake name because of it.

Yeah, even though I dislike going by it I will shorten my name to Cam usually - especially if the place is loud.

And for any type of order, not just Starbucks.

My town recently gained a Starbucks, I've only been in a Starbucks once and they didn't ask for my name. I shall start thinking of my Starbucks pseudonym now as I think Wolfgang is far too much of a challenge.

For a moment, I read the title as Starburst names. I use either Ryan or Anthony. But I rarely go to Starbucks.

  19. Well, I have no Starbucks name, but once in a while, I'll use a name from a video game because it's fun that way.

I usually just go with my first name - or sometimes by my last name, which is also a first name. Except in my case it's a last name.

Okay that made no sense at all.

My friend Karen has apparently had her name changed to something like Kevin by Starbucks employees several times over the years. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Oh who are you kidding? You're totally going to change your name to that when you get older.
