I was just wondering how many people are bilingual on here.... and whether or not their first language is english or not, because a lot of english people don't bother to learn another language as english is spoken everywhere.

Only English fluently, Irish and French at an intermediate level, and Japanese at a basic level.

I'm fluent in two languages,(English and Gaelic - which I rarely use so I probably suck at) and I have a smattering of plenty others.

I've taken classes in French, German, British Sign Language (BSL), Spanish and Latin. (funnily enough, at one time I was learning all these languages at once)

But I can only really hold a conversation in English. So I only speak one language.

english im good with! italian, kinda... i tried japanese for a while but forgot alot of it.... and some (like .4% of the language) latin. wanna learn more of that even though its the hardest language to master... but it sounds cool.

  13. This is one of the biggest reasons I hate being American... I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I think 66% of the world's population is bilingual and all of 6% of Americans are. I really wish I was multilingual, but I'm not. I speak only English fluently. Hopefully by the time I graduate college I'll be fluent in some other language.

    English (first language, fluent)
Arabic (learnt at same time as English, was fluent once but I'm not so fluent anymore)
French (learnt for 9 years so far, mostly fluent)
Spanish (learnt for 2 years, can't say ANYTHING lol)
    Latin (doesn't really count)

Learning multiple languages is a pain. I keep writing Spanish in my French lessons and vice versa :\
I'd love to learn Italian

English is my first language, and I've taken 4 years of HS Spanish(as well as one year of German and one year of French). However, I can barely hold a conversation in Spanish. I guess I'm fluent-ish...
