In the last week or so, I've been trying to become a better person (yeah that 'new me' crap). I am quite resentful, or atleast I think I am and hold grudges. I also come across rude to my family and I often speak down to people depending on how bad of a mood I'm in, I think I've been brooding alot for a long time. I am trying to change that and yesterday I came across a saying: being resentful towards someone is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die. the only person your hurting is yourself. what saying or sayings are important to you?
It not a saying, but I like to be nice to people not because they deserve it, but because I want people to be kind to me when I'm not at my best.
"Be the change you want to see in the world." Because how else may we go about changing things besides exemplifying it ourselves first? Then, even if you fail, you'll have succeeded in the first part.
"Perhaps we will all* be stories and may these stories never end" - Doctor who, Steven Moffatt. *Original line says 'both'.
Oh, there are so many.. One that I like is, "The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing", by Henry Ford. And, "Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today, Let us begin." by Mother Teresa. Also, "The earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed", by Mahatma Gandhi.
Nothing really pops into my head, since I've never followed those word for word, but something my father once told me has stuck. "If you're gonna punch someone, do it where others can't see it." Aside from the literal meaning...loopholes are everywhere.
