I'm a huge huge geography nerd. Love countries, languages and learning to bits, so I was wondering, anyone have a favorite country? A really awesome place you found in the world? (The elephant corridor in India is amazing) A language you enjoy listening to? - Ace
I really like listening to Italian, espically when sung. Also love hearing most Asian languages talked and sung. I love the beauty of Japan. I love the culture of Japan as well. But really, I like most places in the world. Every location and culture has something beautiful about it.
I've always been interested in geography, anthropology, and languages. I'm fascinated by other cultures and countries and read about them all the time. One area of the world that I've been particularly interested in lately is the island of New Guinea. Here is some of the least-explored land in the world: hundreds of undiscovered plants and animals are thought to live here. It's also the most densely diverse place in the world, with hundreds of tribes and over 800 languages spoken just on this one island. I don't know too much about the individual languages spoken there, but I've listened to a few on YouTube and I love them--I wish someone would make some music in these languages, then I could hear them at their most beautiful.
Japan is my Favourite (mainly because I have family there) but I love listening to the language. For me we I love all languages and when ever I hear someone speaking in it I could just like sit there all day and listen to them, even if I didn't have a clue what they are saying.
I really like would love to visit all the ancient Babylonian and Assyrian palaces, but fucking ISIS keeps destroying them all, so I might soon only be reading of them in books and old pictures other than that, I like a lot of ancient palaces in India, they're really cool, I can't name any in particular, mabye the golden temple, in general that's where I would love to visit if I had the chance. I love all languages in the world, but I love listening to the Arabic recitation of the qur'an, it's amazing, even if you're not Muslim you should try it, it gives off a very peaceful feeling, trust me. I'm also pretty in to south Asian languages as I write this, i might make a conlang inspired by them in the future.
At the moment I'm fascinated by Taiwan and Hong Kong (I really hate how China oppresses both), mainly thanks due to my passion for Mandarin and Cantonese music. I'm hoping to start learning basic Mandarin in sixth form or do a beginners course when/if I go to university.
I love listening to Spanish, French and Russian, and I'm hoping to become fluent in the first two. My favourite country that I've been to is Paris, but I loved the Charles Bridge in Prague when I visited.
Heyy! I am Nik from Bulgaria. I too love geography! I am so so passionate about it. I mean I love studying ANYTHING that has to do with it, I love to discuss with freinds too but unfortunately my friends are not so "Happy" when I tell them. Just give me a diagram, a map, A case study... trust me Ill sing you everything I know Plus I never ever get tired of it... even in the very late night I just open a book to read sometimes. However I have not found anyone that is so passionate about it- most people are just like normal students in the sense that they are taking the subject without more effort if you could say that. I would really like to chat with you buddy Thanks for reading :icon_wink
I'd really like to go to Nepal sometime and also Japan seems like a really cool place. In terms of languages, I love the sound of German and Maori and try to learn a bit now and then
For the place I'd love to go the most: Canada or Sweden without a doubt. For the most interesting place on the other hand, I've heard of a purposely flooded ancient city in China. I hate water honestly, or at least just getting wet, but even I think such a place has to feel extraordinary. From what I've seen it looks like it belongs in an Indiana Jones film... I doubt you would be chased by boulders, however.
I think it's an absolute disgrace the Chinese PR government flooded that beautiful city. All of that history is essentially lost :icon_sad:
Seen a few people add what country they'd love to visit, so I'll add mine. The places I would most love to visit more than anything in the entire world, are Pakistan and Afghanistan. More realistically, I would love to visit Japan and Canada.
I love listening to people speak German, Afrikaans, and Hindi. German especially, becuase the sounds sooud so cool. I love saying the phrase "Sprechen sie Deutsch?"
I love hearing the Spanish and French accents. I find them very sexy. I like Italian too but I find it kinda rough. Ummm, Sweden and Nepal seem like very interesting countries to visit for me. =)
I am also a huge Geography and travel fan! Travelling for me is more than just make pictures, even though I'm also really into photography. If I travel, especially if I travel alone, I enjoy meeting new people and get to know and try to understand their point of view about basically everything. I'm really curious and like to get to know new cultures and different human beings. I can't point a favorite country though. There are so many I like for different reasons. I like the relaxing lifestyle of Spain, the architecture of the Arabic courtiers, the pub culture of Britain and its countryside!, the skylines of New York, (I'm always impressed of huge buildings something we don’t really have here), but also California with its spirit of freedom and skating, and of course Italy because of the food! Of course these are only the positive things about those countries, of course there are always a downside. I guess there is no paradise on earth. If I had to choose one place I'd visit again and again, it would be Berlin. I'm so addicted to this place! I really like the people there I feel like there is no judgement, like I experience here in Switzerland. I also enjoy the variation of nature, art, history and city. A really beautiful place which is always in change. haha this is my opinion about the city, I'm not paid to make advertisement, I just really like this city XD I really like English as a language, I feel like it's an easier language to learn (if you compare it with French for example) but still I feel like I can express myself more precisely there are so many words we don't have in German and it makes travelling way easier! I speak German, English and French and I’d like to learn how to speak Spanish next!
I love geography! I don't really have a favorite language or country though. But, I really like Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau. I think weird border mistakes are cool too, like the Northwest Angle, Southwick Jog, and Bir Tawil. Also micronations and conlangs (both of which I have).
My favorite language would have to be French. It has a certain elegance and flair of pronunciation that I love. A place I'd absolutely love to visit (maybe even live) is Tenerife, a relatively small island in the Canary Islands.
