When your gay and people call you homophobic

I've never been called a homophobe, but I've been asked if I'm a homophobe :lol:

 

I don't think I've ever been accused of being homophobic. To the original poster, when have people called you homophobic? What was the context?

For me, even with repressing my sexuality for most of my teens and early 20s, I was always a supporter of gay right, legalizing gay marriage, etc.

 

From experience, someone being gay or having gay friends, doesn't necessarily excuse them from homophobic behavior/homophobia. It's like people who are racist and use the excuse of being said race or having friends of other races as a defense.

 

Why are they accusing you of being homophobic? Did you say something anti-gay? Is there a certain aspect of homosexuality that you don't feel comfortable discussing with other people? If you don't want to be outed, then it may be better to say you don't have an opinion on the matter.

It happens. Would help to have the context though.
