    Hello! :icon_bigg

    1) Do you believe in dreams having meanings?

    2) Have you ever had a significant dream?

2b) What do you think it meant?

    My thoughts/answers:

    1) Unsure, i think they are probably strongly influenced by both our conscious and subconscious feelings

    2) I've had quite a few vivid/very real feeling dreams , so much so that I've woken up with my heart beating fast - this actually happened last night which is hat got me curious!

Last nights dream/nightmare: I dreamt I was talking to a hearty , erratic and emotional middle aged woman whilst sipping a cucumber cocktail . the next thing i remember is i had killed 3 random people (i didn't dream of there killing just that i knew i'd done it), and from then I was trying to live as normal and appear normal whilst feeling extremely anxious, desperate, trapped, broken. I was speaking to my lesbian tutor (she exists in real life also, and i'm not 100% she's a lesbian but i get the vibes, in my dream she was a lesbian though) and we were talking/sharing mutual feelings about faking confidence ect. throughout the conversation i felt calm. and then i went to my home and 2 of my best friends were there, this anxiety and panic feeling came back - knowing that i'd killed 3 people, but i just pretended i was fine and it was working - my friends didn't suspect anything. but then, a police van pulled up outside my house and i was thinking (in my dream) how it would have all worked out if the police didn't come, and my friendships are ruined. i woke up at this point and my heart was beating so fas.

    3) I am unsure really, another reason for posting the thread! but i get strong vibes that it is to do with my sexual orientation!!!

p.s. my dream/nightmare sounds sinister but i promise i am not!

    1) I think dreams are just a (often very weird) way to deal with certain feelings or situations. A dream can reveal your subconscious feelings you might not accept or realize yet. Sometimes it's hard to interpret them though.

    2) I think I had several but I don't really remember them because I often dream very weird stuff.

    2b) -

  3. 1) Well, from what I remember, a dream is a reaction to the conscious side of the brain "freaking out" by some impulses from the unconscious side, generating a random story from your memories or thoughts. To me, it can take part of having a meaning behind your emotional and physiological state, but that's what I believe. I never really checked the "key aspect" of my dreams to see what the meaning could be.

    2) My dreams are constantly vivid and random. Some can be beautiful, whereas some can be down right disturbing. (As in, if it was a film and I went to an age rating company, they'd probably throw me out and refuse to rate it for release :lol:slight_smile:.

I'm not a man of nightmares. I somehow end up in sleep paralysis before the nightmare begins. If I can recall one dream, I remember I was in a big building being over ran by terrorists. The crazy thing was, if I got killed, I went back to the 'Start of the dream'. It was basically like a game.

Even crazier, One dream; I took an elevator with a friend to the roof of a building (Probably hundreds of floors high) and once the doors closed, the elevator didn't move, no matter how many times I pressed them. I have a huge phobia of heights, so my brain thought it was a good idea to snap off the elevator floor and left me hanging on the side rail, and down below was just a pitch black void. Ever have that feeling where your stomach turns, you can feel it turn in real life? Anywho, the elevator eventually started going down slowly, but one of the walls broke away, and if you're a fan of Portal, you'll like this ending: I saw the background of the Aperture Science Facility. As in, the back of the panels and the thousands of test rooms.

I'd go on, but there's so many.

2b) I really don't know, but I guess the elevator dream must of been a little "simulation" of being in high places to help fight off my fear. (Which I don't think will ever happen).

I used to be really into dream interpretations. Breezily consulted a dream dictionary after every dream, kept a dream journal. But you know, now it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

How can every dream have a commonly agreed upon meaning? Like does eating a tomato in a dream really mean you're healthy? Wouldn't it depend on your own personal interpretation and your experiences?

Really, dreams are random. At least in my mind. I feel like they're mainly just junk data our brains are sorting out and sometimes we're conscious enough to perceive the dream.

I remember a few though. Like one dream, which actually got me into dream interpretations because of how weird it was, had me and one of my old girlfriends making out at a county fair. I don't even remember what I decided the interpretation was.

    1) Do you believe in dreams having meanings? Yes.

    2) Have you ever had a significant dream? Yep. I was always afraid of death and didn't know what to do about it so I prayed on it; and one night I had a dream about seeing the cross Jesus died on, somewhat stained with blood and the hanging crown of thorns across the top part of it, then I saw the manger he was born in.

2b) What do you think it meant? I figured that it meant only through death can I have a new life.

I think so, but only sometimes.

Yeah, it's a nightmare I've been having for some time now. In short it's just about me being dumped by my family. I've always have had trouble with abandonment from my family.

Yeah I think it's my fears feeding off of my coming out and my family not being very supportive. Fears are fears.

    1) well yes, I guess I do, they are basically my subconscious feelings that take form in images when I fall asleep. However, I don't believe all dreams have meaning, some of them are just junk data. A lot of people around me, like my mom, are really into dream interpretation, she seems to believe every one of her dreams means something soooo important! I regularly go on dream dictionary when I have a dream, though, so I guess I'm in no place to say anything.

    2) yes, but a lot of my dreams are a bit wierd, and some are slightly sexual for some reason. I'll just share five of them:

    1. I had this dream over a year ago. Once I dreamt that I was tied to a chair in a room with red lighting. The room was filled with action figure dolls, the looked like the stereotypical Mexican bandits you would see in old western movies. A man came with a mask with holes in it, and a chainsaw. He started slicing the action figures heads off, and real blood was coming out of them!

    2. This is one from a year ago too. I once dreamt the ISIS flag was flying in my elementary school, where the Canadian flag would usually be...creepy.

    3. This dream is from the summer. I was coming to my apartment building from somehow here else. I noticed a family of people dressed in black approaching. I ran into my house IMMEADIATELY and slammed myself against the door. I looked through the peephole, and one of the family members, and old man, looked straight at me, with a frown.

    4. This is from a couple months ago. I was in my old school. I followed a young man into a the boys changing room in the gym. He was slightly chubby and had black hair and blue eyes( sort of my dream guy) inside the gym were two mats ready for us. He undressed and I followed him, almost like a mirror. I sat on one mat and he sat on the other. We started doing naked excercises, kinda like the ancient Greeks style. I looked at the man many times, and he kept on chasing shape, once he turned into a black guy! We did this until we both ejaculated kind off. After cleaning up I looked to where he was and he had disappeared.

    5. Just last night, I had a dream that there were 500 BEHEADINGS IN SAUDI ARABIA ALL ON THE SAME DAY. And a mall in Europe got 20 explosives bombs put inside it. The guy who got caught doing it said in an interview, that his religion might not tell him to do this, but it was in him to do it, so he did it. I guess my dream was fake news?

    3. I believe dreams have meaning, let me try to interpret mine.

    1) no idea.
    2) no idea.
    3)no idea.
    4) mabye I need to relieve stress?
    5) my mom said it's good luck, but dream dictionary says that I have inner problems I can't express, so I " explode" on the inside!

So that's me and dreams. Sorry if I scarred you for life with any my my disturbing/ troubling/ worrying dreams!

I write sci-fi fantasy for fun so my dreams are all over the place... from chasing a 500 foot alligator in a train full of tourist looking Japanese men with cameras (yes, yelling Godzilla!) to me being in a magikal battle screaming the second charm of making with some unseen HUGE thingamabob only to get THWAKED and I'm standing next to my broken body telling the Goddess Hecate "Hey, I'm not done yet... put me back!" I usually go into my dreams to SCARE them. Yeah, I'm not your normal gurl... LOL!

Dreams are almost always replaying bits of drama from your life, but in heavily encoded form. If you look for the symbolism, you can almost always figure out what it's about, but it's often surprising.

I also believe we can have prophetic dreams occasionally. Between the ages of 12 and 18, I had a number of dreams about my partner, whom I met when I was 19. Several were on a university campus (although I didn't start at a university until I was 17)...and we met on a campus (that was neither my university nor hers), and I recognized some parts of campus from dreams. So I kinda have to believe in those, too. But I can say that those dreams felt different from "normal" dreams...they felt significant in a way...less like dream and more like memory?

So it just might be possible that 500 beheadings can happen on the same day? And it just might be possible that will meet my partner in the gym from my elementary school? I can't even decide which is worst anymore!

I had a dream last night that something really bad was about to happen to my mum.. so I screamed out for her. Then I woke up with an 'Ahh' kind of sound, before falling back to sleep.

I've had similar dreams before involving my mum and death.. one of the earliest dreams I can recall was one where she was killed by an animal, and I woke up crying (I was about 5 or 6).

I think it might relate to my deep-rooted fear of death, especially when it comes to my mum dying, as I was constantly paranoid as a child that she would die whenever she went out somewhere. I don't worry about it much anymore, but I have no doubt that I'd struggle to cope. I have no idea what I'd do to be honest. We're not as close as we used to be but I still love her more than anyone.

Absolutely 500 beheadings can happen on the same day.
Absolutely you could meet your partner in your elementary school gym.

I don't find either likely. The dreams I mentioned above certainly were not the only dreams I've had in the past 40 years. Most of those were not prophetic.

Nor would I ever infer that your experience with dreams should bear any relationship to mine.

Whilst I don't believe that this is true of all dreams, I definitely think that some dreams have meanings. For example, I'm a secretive person by nature, and I'll sometimes dream about being naked (see: exposed) in front of a lot of people. So I guess that shows a fear of people finding out my secrets? Not that my secrets are particularly interesting. Like I said, I'm just secretive.

I hope that not all dreams are important, seeing as most of my dreams - the ones that I remember, at least - are mostly horrible. Personally, I think that dreams can be disguised forms of our unconscious thoughts, for example, if you're terrified of losing a certain person in your life you may have dreams where you are searching for them but you can't find them, to name an obvious example.

    1) Yes, only sometimes though. I think more often than not, it's my subconscious trying to tell me something that I should already consider or be aware of.

    2) Depends on how you define significant. Can I remember certain dreams vividly or easily? Yes. Do I think they have an important meaning? Not usually.

I believe dreams do have a connections to real life. I kinda came to this point when I had a dream about my best friend being shot in the chest and me waking up to excruciating pain in that exact spot where he was shot.
