What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?

    How long have you played?

    How often do you practice?

    By ear or sheet music?

Do you or have you composed any original works?

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?

I play the drums and the djembe; I also sing. I don't really know what to compare myself to, plus I kind of suck at assessing myself, but I guess I'd say I'm sort of intermediate? Like, I'm not a total beginner, at least.

I've played kind of sporadically over the years... But now at least I have a djembe and a drum set of my own, so now I can play whenever I want. Right now I'm sick so I'm not playing all that much, but I think I'll be playing more after that... ^^ I'm not very disciplined, but I can play a lot when I feel like it. I sing a lot, like when I'm listening to a tune or when I'm out walking and stuff. I probably sing for about 1h+/day. I play the drums about as much, I guess.

I can't read notes. I've learnt a little about it but not enough yet. So I go by ear.
I have been writing some music lately. Some of the songs are just really in a fetal stage, but I have one song which is almost done (a pop-rock song), that I've also translated into Japanese, and another song which is like 60% done (an acoustic song).

    Favorite instrument... Darn that's difficult. Different instruments would win in different categories;
Most pretty/beautiful: Probably... Flute. I'm a fan of solo classical flute music. Ocarina is also very nice.
What sets me on fire the most: The drums. Just banging every last bit of sound you can out of them while you're drenched in sweat, that feeling of control when you know a song well... ah, it's heavenly.
Favorite instrument allround: That's probably vocals. I always pay a lot of attention to vocals when I listen to music (unless it's instrumental, of course).

Bass drum (I was a band geek; don't judge)

    Advanced

    Since high school

    I don't have a drum anymore.

    Both

    Only improvisation.

I'm just a drum guy. You can have a drummer without a band, but you just can't have a band without a drummer. (But I'm also partial to piano music, since we're talking about beautiful instruments.)

Do you play an instrument (or more than one) and if so what?

Yep. I play the flute. I can pick at a piano and a guitar. Aaand I sing, if you count that.

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?

Beginner at piano and guitar, intermediate/advanced on flute and vocal (I say this because I'm pretty good, but I still think there's plenty of room to improve and I'm definitely not a professional).

    How long have you played?

I've played the flute for 6 years. I have not expanded my piano skills in the slightest, but I've technically played for...most of my life? Guitar I haven't touched in eons, let's call it 1 year at most. And vocal...well...yes. But in a more formal standpoint, about 6 or 7 years.

    How often do you practice?

Piano and guitar, not at all. Vocal an hour everyday through school (extended on Wednesdays by about another hour, until next Saturday), and flute an hour every other day through school, and maybe a little more at home if I'm feeling a bit lacking.

    By ear or sheet music?

I can read sheet music (I'm a beast at sight reading) and I often play from that. However, when I want to learn a song on my own, I tend to try and figure it out by ear. I'm usually successful, but if I'm having a hard time, I tend to try to find sheet music.

Do you or have you composed any original works?

Not really, but I've wanted to try.

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?

Hm...piano, bassoon, violin, most classical string instruments...not sure what to pick. Leaning more towards the violin and its siblings.

Bass guitar and guitar, and I sometimes screw around with electronic music.

    Bass- Intermediate
    Guitar- Beginner

Anywhere from 1 to 4 hours a day.

I have a basic knowledge of sheet music but I do more from ear and tab.

I am working on some electronic stuff.

    Probably the entire guitar family.

See user name, but I also sing and am classically trained.

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?
    Intermediate-Advanced

    How long have you played?
Almost 20 years, 15 years seriously (my first 5 years I hardly practiced or did much)

    How often do you practice?
Really depends, at my peak several hours a day. Nowadays a few hours a week probably, but it varies.

    By ear or sheet music?
Ear and tabs. I can read sheet music if I really break it down and think about it, but I'm MUCH better by ear.

Do you or have you composed any original works?
Several albums worth of original music.

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?
Favorite instrument is guitar, but I find panflute gorgeous and soothing.

Do you play an instrument (or more than one) and if so what?

Oh man lets start the list, so the instruments I am currently mainly focusing on are Guitar (both acoustic and electric, mainly in Jazz things at this current moment, but i think i want to start just doing some more pure theory so then i can just directly transfer it into writing things) and Trombone. I also play out of interest Ukulele, Bass Guitar (something I want to start taking so much more seriously, its so much fun), Piano, and Drums, mainly kit. Some people don't consider this, but I also sing a lot, however I haven't gotten any formal practice with it other than sinning with choirs for years.

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?

Id say im about Intermediate-Advanced, there are some things that I can do super easily, but then I still fall off on other things as well, so I wouldn't say that I am Advanced as of yet, however hopefully in the near future I will be

    How long have you played?
Not actually that long, my first instrument I started was drums, and started that when I was about 10 years ago, then I progressed onto guitar 2 years later, and then started building interest in piano another 2 years later. Trombone I started up 2 years ago, and in that period of time, already doing AMEB grade 6 (which I believe is a requirement to have to do music studies in Australia, not sure how it would translate over to other systems, so TL: DR, Trombone is basically a natural talent to a major extent) I really was a late bloomer to playing music. Ive always had an instrest in sounds and such, so i was an avid listener from the day i was born id say.

    How often do you practice?

ALL THE TIME. When im not posting on here or doing work, im doing scales on guitar constantly, when I have frees in-between classes, instead of doing other homework, im fiddling around with chords or trying to figure out songs, or write things. So basically every opportunity I get. I have developed a drive to want to get great at what i play, as i really really want to get good enough to at least try and get into the industry.

    By ear or sheet music?

I would say I work by Ear, just due to me being so crap at sight reading, however I would say that while I prefer working by ear, I know I need to improve working on reading sheet music.

Do you or have you composed any original works?
Yup, Most recent thing I can think of was a simple thing for a string trio, where I only used the Whole Tone scale for notes. You can imagine how great that would of sounded :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:, I got an A+ for it so super happy about it
At the current moment, i have a heap of ideas buzzing around my head, but i want to try and write lyrics, however i am TERRIBLE at English, so that's something i have to put some time into as well.

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?

That's an interesting question, it depends in what context, I mean it all depends on the piece, the notes played by the instrument, it depends on so much. but if i really had to pick one that i like in context to what i listen to/am surrounded by, i would say the guitar, its so flexible, as you can get a raw flamenco part out of it, but then in another context, you can be getting a jazz line that is just flawless.

I've learnt how to play the Piano/Keyboard, Flute and Sitar/Veena

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?
    Piano/Keyboard - Intermediate
    Flute - Beginner
    Sitar/Veena - Absolute Beginner

    How long have you played?
    Piano/Keyboard - 20 years
    Flute - 3 years
    Sitar/Veena - 6 months

    How often do you practice?
    Piano/Keyboard - Once a Week
    Flute - Very very occasionally
    Sitar/Veena - Haven't touched one for 15 years now.

    By ear or sheet music?
I use sheet music when I play classical pieces. Otherwise I sing out the song myself, recollecting the tune from memory when I try it out on the keyboard.

Do you or have you composed any original works?
One or two pieces on the keyboard.

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?

Sitar/Veena. Basically all Indian Traditional String Instruments. They're absolutely beautiful to listen to.

    I'm hardly a musician...I'm more of a dabbler...

Do you play an instrument (or more than one) and if so what?
I've played a bunch in the past...violin, cello, drums, and guitar...but I was never super great at anything. Right now I play the banjolele.

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?
    I'm a beginner

    How long have you played?
Violin - 9 years, then I dropped it; I never liked it much
Cello - 2 or 3 years, VERY casually in high school, but never since
Drums - 2 years somewhat seriously, but I haven't touched these since early college
Guitar - about a year and a half, two years
Banjolele - about 2 years, and I love it

    How often do you practice?
    Not often enough

    By ear or sheet music?
Neither. I use tabs and chord cheat sheets almost exclusively.

Do you or have you composed any original works?
    Ha.

Back in high school, I helped compose some songs with a band I was in with a couple of friends. I wrote like half of the lyrics for a 30 minute rock ballad. We never composed our instrumentals officially - we knew how the songs went, and occasionally we'd let them devolve briefly into something fluid and unscripted.

I haven't written much on my own, nothing shareable. But if I sit down and get more proficient, I'll probably work on my own works.

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?
    Just one?

I'm biased towards my banjolele. I think it has such a happy sound.

I'm also a sucker for accordion, theramin, saw, and sitar.

I play the zither and I am taking a class on guitar. Any other zither players here?

I play guitar, acoustic , bass , rhythm and lead guitar

What level proficiency are you: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced?

I'd say I'm about Intermediate , dont know really, I know of chords but not the notes
and I can play with my eyes closed and still find the chords !!!

    How long have you played?

been playing since I was around 11 I think...

    How often do you practice?

almost every day, but when my band has a gig , probably 2 or 3 nights/days practicing, depending on
    my friends shift work!

    By ear or sheet music?

by ear mostly, although I did try to learn classical music at school but fell
in love with Rock N Roll! and blues music which I still love !

Do you or have you composed any original works?

I write and record and play my own songs, cant play other peoples music..
    just doesn't work for me

What is your favourite instrument, the one you consider most beautiful?

Currently my favorite is acoustic guitar, teaching myself finger picking and slide !!

    Drums/percussion

    - I'd say Intermediate.
    - Played for about 9-10 years, now.

    Keyboard/piano

    - Intermediate
    - Started at age 7, then it dwindled once I got into playing drums

    Guitar
    - Beginner/intermediate.
    - Been playing around 6-ish years.

I do by ear on piano and drums, and I tend to use tabs for guitar.

I once composed a piece on piano using only black keys. I also once did a weird rendition of "Old McDonald" on harmonica, which sounded less like an actual tune, and more like the town kook picked it up and started going crazy with it.

I haven't done anything totally official music-wise, yet. I'm trying to get to that point.

The one I like playing the most is drums.
The one I find most beautiful is acoustic guitar. My father and I just had a discussion on how great it is to hear someone just onstage, nothing but a mic and a guitar, and singing from their heart.

If we include vocals, I do that, as well. I can sing mid-bass through low alto.
