What are you guys listening to when you feel like listening to queer (or any l, g, b or t) artists? Every once in a while I find some songs that I really like that show or talk about being queer, but I want to make a playlist. Any suggestions? Even though it's really old, one of my all time favourites is Ween's Homo Rainbow, so I'll do a shout out for that here. But I want some new music! Thoughts? (ps how do you embed videos???) http://youtu.be/mItGNNPclvE
I have one playlist that I posted in an earlier thread, but I also downloaded the app 8tracks, and you can search for playlists that people have made tagged with things like queer, lesbian, bisexual, ladies who love ladies, coming out, whatever. It's pretty good.
Here's the thread that tells you how to embed a YouTube video: http://emptyclosets.com/forum/chit-chat/63227-how-use-youtube-tag-also-spoiler-tags.html The only queer artists that I listen to are Queen and Green Day...but they don't really touch on gay topics :/
This is the thread Katchoo was talking about, some good suggestions: http://emptyclosets.com/forum/lgbt-later-life/209601-playlists.html My current fav is Queen/Bowie - Under Pressure
Check out the video on you tube by Ally and Stevie called Her Lover. That video really works for me. ....HOT!!!!!!
there's tegan and sara. their new single is called 'boyfriend'. its about two girls in a relationship but one is lowkey about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJOHoiPGpac
Frickin' LOVE this song! It's been on my top-10 list of hot queer songs for a year or two now. I wish more of her music was like this. On a less sexy note, I also rather enjoy Scissor Sisters (e.g., Take Your Mama, I Don't Feel Like Dancin', or I Can't Decide).
You guys are awesome, I'm adding some of these to my queer playlist, some I already have - like Queen and Bowie are deep in my music lists. One new one I found - Elektra, I Don't Do Boys - <3 it
Pretty much everything by Team Dresch is about LGBT things, since all the members are lesbians. Plus there is: One More Hour by Sleater-Kinney (about Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, both bisexual, breaking up) Listen Up by Gossip (though that was more of the video, which was 2 transgender people meeting each other at a place, and danced) O Chenilla by Cadallaca (about a woman who still loves her ex-girlfriend, and not knowing why they broke up. Also, if you look it up, you need to spell it "O Shenila")
It turns out most of the artists I listen to are LGBT (Elton John, David Bowie, Troye Sivan, ect) so... although, other than the last one, they rearly if ever touch on LGBT topics
