Anyone find they are more likely to post, now that a post-count with a specific goal has been attached to the site? Has your posting behavior changed? You used to wait until you *really* had something to say, and said it all at once in one big post...and now you're more likely to make several smaller posts? Possibly more likely to post thoughts you might have previously considered "too trivial to warrant posting?" I'd love to be able to collect data on posting frequency and maybe average characters per post both pre-meter and post-meter...and I harbor a fantasy that staff are doing this secretly. They aren't...they have much better things to do with their time...but I'm enjoying the fantasy. LOL
Nope. I post as often and as much as I decide I want to without any thought to whether the number of posts or characters is being counted. Until your post, I hand to really noticed that they were doing this and I still don't know why. Todd
I'm not posting at all these days lol. I guess in that sense you can say yes, they have changed, although it has nothing to do with the post-countdown.
Not if the posts have meaning. Post count can show dedication and knowledge of the forum. Regardless if they are on a quota or whatever. If they are spam or off putting, then it's a problem.
Ooooo! *cackles* In light of these *excellent* responses, I *really* wish EC was keeping stats on posts and post-size both a week prior to posting the meter and a week after! Peoples are so funny.
I've been posting some more lately, but that's just because I actually have some more time since I have finished school. The meter popped up right about the time that I graduated.
Nope. I only post when I have something I can contribute to the conversation... and can figure out how to say it. This happens far less frequently than I'd like.
Uh.. I don't think so. I haven't posted as much over the past week, and was completely inactive for 4 days.
The depth and amount of typing I post is entirely based on the thread. So no, I don't post differently. At least half of my posts are in support threads I believe.
Well I used to be the most prolific poster here for a good half a year a while ago. That's since died down a lot.
No, it is about the same. The only difference is when, in Fun & Games threads, there is a specific parameter to follow. And I just post whenever I feel I can offer an adequate answer, obviously trying to stay concise. Occasionally, as with advice or urgent threads, I might interject a longer and more well-thought comment.
