I don't know much about them but it seems odd. They can do as they want if they aren't hurting anyone, but they should not try to convince me it's a real thing.

You ignorant fool. How dare you invalidate my identity. I'm a wooden chair - plenty of people have sat on me. You're more than welcome to join them.

Personally, I find it rather odd and at times can make things invalidating for others. I can't judge however, there are much worse things about sadly.

It's sort of like religion I suppose, minus the genocide/sexism bits of course.

I wouldn't mind sitting on you. You seem like a nice, sturdy chair.

As with any other group, I have no moral obligation to agree with them, or to like them.

I believe I will respectfully keep my distance.

I will say though, I think I understand why someone would want to see themselves as something other than human. Very often we humans are a scummy and disgusting lot...

If they're happy, then good for them I guess. But I can see why people might start to get dicky about it because they don't see a line being drawn between being transgender and other-kin (and all that other stuff) and that's where the argument of "this trans thing is going too far" gets blown around. Interesting topic though.

People saying that theyre not hurting anyone, they really are. The amount of people that are ignorant about what transgender is hear all kinds of things from the otherkin community and automatically make connections from them to trans people. Its extremely harmful for the trans community and causes more difficulty for trans people to be taken seriously. I know of gender clinics refusing trans people treatment because of otherkin folk.

Fair enough people can do what they like, its their own lives bit when they start affecting other people's lives, that's when things start getting out of hand.

I don't know. Live and let live.

But the day someone transitions into Julia Child's cookbook will strike a great victory for all otherkin.

Any recent scientific studies proving other-kin's existence?

Although in terms of the people who believe they have a spirit animal, it's no different to religion, and nothing to do with gender so that doesn't hurt anyone. It has something to do with identity, but only in the spiritual way, not physical.

I identify as Humankin, I ask that you respect my need to make a dumb joke.

Anyways, I don't really care what they think believe or do, as long as they're not hurting anyone I don't have a reason to get involved in any way. It's just a weird thing on the internet that I pay no mind to.

Is this a result of weird anime per chance? Cause I have no clue and can't understand for the love of everything holy, where this concept even came from. I find it totally different from transgenderism and find it somewhat disturbing that both things "can be" or "are" compared.

Aren't they all young teenagers trying to be edgy?

Not a fan, really. I mean, people see them as a joke - because they are, I'm sorry but it's just stupid - and what worries me is that they could potentially invalidate trans* people. If you want me to explain that then just ask.

And "fiction-kin" is absolutely ridiculous, I'm sorry. No, you were not a fictional character in a past life. An author INVENTED that fictional character. I completely understand identifying with/personally relating to fictional characters because I do that ALL THE TIME, but to claim that you are/were one is, I'm 90% convinced, a new way of trolling.

My old friend's girlfriend was a geko-kin. Weirded me out, that's for sure.
But to each their own, I guess.
