Currently I have not read very many such books, but my favorites so far are The Mortal Instruments (Alec), and I'll Give You The Sun (Noah).

There's this two-book series called Eliana's Song by Naomi Kritzer which I finished recently. I randomly picked the first book (Fires of the Faithful) up from the library, not even knowing it was about a lesbian. I just thought it was some random easy-going fantasy novel I would read in my free time but it pleasantly surprised me, it was much more clever than the back-cover made it sound. Had some interesting religious-tension themes which felt original too.

I really liked the fact that the lesbian angle isn't shoved in your face, and that the protagonist is a heroine first and a lesbian second. It's not the best series ever but I was very happy with it so right now I'd say it's my favourite and I'm looking out for more stuff by this author.

I also really liked Bathing the Lion by Jonathan Carroll, there are five or so main characters, one of whom is lesbian. Also, Fun Home!

Stephen Fry's 'Making History' it's a cracking book that just happens to have a bi main character and a number of other gay characters. And it's not an 'issues' book. It's just a good book.

Stephen Fry's 'The Liar' too, same reasons.

I really hate that original Enigma (the book that got made into the film with Kate Winslet) had a presumably lesbian character (Hester) and that was pretty much painted over in the film. I wish someone with the power of Kate Winslet had at least insisted on Hester being obviously bi.

I was going to say I'll Give You the Sun before I saw that you have included it. The book itself is beautifully written and is my favorite to this day, but the whole thing between Noah and Brian was just so perfect and sad. Ugh, I wish the book never ended.

I have never read a book with a lgbt person sadly and my grandma buys my books so I don't know if she would be too happy about it >.>

My favorite book is The Lesser Blessed, though it doesn't feature gay chataracters. It did however talk about teen sexuality, drugs, fights, etc in a very real way that really hit home when I was about 17.

My favorite LGBT book is probably Tales From Foster High.

I don't remember his name but a guy from Zoella's book; Girl Online was gay, the first book I read with a LGBT character in it.

PEOPLE! There's a *whole universe* of LGBT YA! Trust me... but if you don't trust me, trust the reccing ball herself, Dahlia Adler: https://dailydahlia.wordpress.com/quiltbag-compendium/#Sec3.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Far From You, by Tess Sharpe (Bisexual girl mc)
Cut Both Ways, by Carrie Mesrobian (Bisexual boy mc)
If I was Your Girl, by Meredith Rosso (Transgirl mc)
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, by Becky Albertalli (gay boy mc)
Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel, by Sara Farizan (lesbian girl mc)

Then, there's the category of NA...

Pretty much anything by Megan Erickson, but start with Trust the Focus (gay boy mc)
Anything by Elliot Wake writing as Leah Raeder, but start with Black Iris (bi girl mc)

OH! And, there's always http://www.gayya.org/?page_id=1713, a *seriously excellent* resource dedicated ENTIRELY to getting more LGBTQIA+ YA published.
