As in, when an online poll is hosted and one group or another encourages people to all vote on one option in order to heavily skew the results.

I stumble across these all the times, the most recent one involved creationism in science classes: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/education/orl-evolution-poll-teach-030209,0,4497000,post.poll

This thread isn't to discuss the issues in the polls themselves, but has anyone else encountered extreme or humorous examples of poll-crashing?

In the most recent example from another forum I post on, somebody posted a link to a local newspaper's website and asked people to vote in a poll there(can't remember what it was about). The side we wanted to win was down by about 40 votes. Within 30 minutes, we had a 200 vote lead. Winning meaningless online polls is something we do all the time there. We've never lost:wink:

LOL. Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards. It was excellent.

We were trying to get Avatar: the Last Airbender to win best animated show or whatever (instead of Spongebob again), and told everyone to vote for it, clear cookies, vote again, etc.

And it worked, and really did deserve to win. D: Unfortunately, they barely even mentioned it. Stupid Spongebob.
