*Edit: Could a mod edit ask to swim please? I guess it got autocorrected.

I like to swim anywhere, but I guess I generally prefer the ocean. ^.^

Hard one to answer. Lake strikes me as quite nice, but that's theory--it's just too :***: cold, at least where I live.

Pools are more practical. I'm only really familiar with chlorinated pools; however, I vote salt water because it sounds like a better approach all around.

Really? I heard that the salt builds up on your skin and makes you really itchy? And isn't it cold?

I've been in a lot of cold pools, but never a cold ocean. The ocean might be cold closer to the poles, but not near here (where I live).

I don't notice the salt unless I accidentally swallow some. It feels the same as chlorine on my skin, or at least similar enough that I don't notice the difference.

Pools for sure. Salt water or chlorine.

I hate swimming in lakes although I got use to it up at my camp on Lake Ontario but that's only because it was sandy (I hate rocks and whatever else floats in lakes touching me)

I vote for salt water as it can be healthier in some circumstances... however i am used to swiming in chlorinated pools and in the great lakes in the states

I only swim in lakes now.
Plus it's easier to hide my chest with a life jacket since I usually jump into the lake from the boat.

I used to swim in pools when I was a kid, up until I was 13 maybe.

sea. Because waves are fun and there are whales and dolphins. ive never gotten itchy from the salt but in the summer there are sea lice which give you rashes where i live, but i wear a wetsuit so that helps. only thing is that i have a fear of sharks, even hough they re one of my favourite animals. So when i go diving im always spinning around when i see a shadow from the corner of my eye. When there's waves, especially in a cyclone, then i grab my boogie board and spend the whole day in the water getting dumped by waves and getting bitten by crabs :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I love swimming pretty much anywhere. I'm not fond of public pools though, especially when there's a lot of people. Then it's just a giant group bath. My preference is the ocean. I'd like to one day learn how to surf!

Only pool swimming for me. Lakes are completely disgusting with the plant matter, fish, smell, and generally dark water, lol. Oceans are ok, but I don't feel particularly safe in those.

Ocean. The beach is nice too and it's conveniently three blocks from my parents' place...

Definitely ocean. Oceans are so alive without being disgusting and small like most lakes. My mother grew up in Wisconsin by one of the great lakes, though, and she says that was the best since it was essentially a safe freshwater ocean (I've never swam in it, though, myself.).

I say pool just because I like being able to see underwater as I'm swimming. I don't mind swimming in any body of fresh water but I'd never want to swim in the ocean. It's just way too huge and it freaks me out tbh

Lake! Got spoiled growing up on Lake Huron.

    random fact of the day:
Canada has more lakes than the rest of the world combined. Of these, there are about 31 752 lakes larger than 3sqkm, and more than 561 lakes larger than 10sqkm. (A teacher asked today, I had to google it. Blew my mind!)

I'm not really much of a swimmer, but short of kayaking or rafting, I'd probably try to stay out of freshwater. Especially lakes. Good way to get leeches. Or your foot cut on a fishing line.

Definitely would prefer chlorinated water. Followed by ocean water (though I am irrationally scared by sharks, and occasionally stung by jellyfish).
