Default Bringing same sex partners to ball/prom

well we were discussing our leavers' ball today in school. i think this is the same as a prom...but im not sure. basically its a ball school has for people who are leaving school and going off to uni. Obs every guy invites a girl to come with them.

So that go me wandering if i had a boyfriend by then would i take him. I came to the conclusion that i dont think i would. I would take one of my female friends, purely coz i wouldnt want the attention that would come with brining a boyfriend.

so how do other people feel about this? if you had a same sex partner would you bring them to your ball/prom?

I would, cept they canceled my prom at my Highschool lol. and i've since graduated. (the whole prom cancellation was a huge thing that was on TV and MTV and the news and everything, it was ridiculously blown out of proportion). I would though

I wouldn't. Both proms I went to I went with one of my girl friends. Just cause I feel that's how I wanted it to be.

Through out high school I went to four dances and went with a boy each dance. Some schools make a fuss and don't let same sex couples buy a couples ticket (which are usually 10%-20% cheaper).

If I was in high school right now, I'd probably go with a boy. It's just easier. Or I'd go with one of my girl friends if she didn't have a date. It's not that uncommon for two girls to go together.

That's the reason why I'm not going to prom.

If I go with a group of friends, then I'd just be sad because I'd want to be with a guy than my friends and all the happy straight couples wouldn't help.

If I go with a guy, no telling how people will react. I wouldn't want my night to be ruined by awkward stares and rude comments. I heard a lesbian couple attended prom three years ago, but I don't know how people reacted.

I would if I even bothered going to my prom. I refused to go because they wanted me to wear a suit, and I was adament I would look like a twatbag in one. I can't have fun when I am dressed formally!

I refuse to wear suits and will for as long as I can.

This was exactly like my school. But the only two openly gay guys in my year found away around it! They bought couples tickets with their female friends and just met up afterwards at the dance. And boy, were people ticked! Of course their female "dates" were in on it but most people were upset that they got in. Me? I was more upset with myself for not finally standing up and doing the same.

If I had one, and if I cared about prom at all. I think it's a silly and expensive way to spend a night, but that's just me being poor.

The right to take a same-sex date to a school dance is usually considered to be a matter of free expression too. We can usually persuade schools to let students bring a same-sex date to the prom or homecoming, so if this is happening to you, contact us!
