Hey all, I'm playing around with a bumper sticker idea. I've seen this bumper sticker around more than several times: Motorcycles Are EVERYWHERE!! Check Twice...Save a Life! I was thinking, maybe there could be a bumper sticker (or other type of sticker) that said something like: QUEER PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE!! (middle line in rainbow colored font) THINK TWICE…AND BE NICE! What do you all think? Can anyone come up with a better ending line? Seriously, though. This idea was spawned by thinking about how LGBT folks ARE everywhere! Even in the most inhospitable of places, where one would think no gay people would exist (or where no gay person has ever gone before!).
thats pretty cool... i dont have any stickers on my car, but i got one for a friend for christmas, it said "i cant even drive straight" (the word straight was in rainbow) thats pretty much the only thing i think of when talking about bumper stickers...
It's not a bad idea. I like it. It's true, queer folk are everywhere, especially where you'd never expect.
I'd use 'homosexuals' instead of 'queer people' Queer means strange, and that association makes me feel that gay people are strange. Which we aren't... I have a bumber sticker that says: If you're going to ride my ass, at least pull my hair
I respect your viewpoint, and can see why you'd have a negative association with the word "queer." I used the word "queer" because "homosexual" means someone who's attracted to the same sex; this term excludes people who are bisexual, transgender, or questioning. Therefore, I think that the term "queer," while it's connotation can be negative, can also be (positively) encompassing of all LGBT people- not just us homosexuals. I feel strange, because part of me WANTS to put a bumper sticker like that on my car, but part of me is still scared about how people (especially ignorant hateful pricks) might react when they see it. I've progressed in my "coming out process," but I haven't gotten as far as putting that kind of bumper sticker on my car. I hope to some day, though.
Hey, I like the idea! By the response you're getting on EC there's gonna be a huge market out there. As you call the car part a bumper, I'm assuming you might be UK (US would call it fender I think); why not enter your idea on the UKTV show with Duncan Ballantine (I think that's his name). I'd love to see how you're gonna pitch that one!!!LOL
Actually, I'm in the U.S.- we call bumper stickers, well, bumper stickers  But you're correct that we do say fender to describe the very front and rear parts of a car's frame.
