I am having a hard time finding friends in my area that are LGBTQ. The only places I know of is one Gay/lesbian bar. I am curious to hear what advice or experience my fellow members have. :help::help::help:

I've met a few LGBT people through m**tup.com. I downloaded the app onto my phone and Besides the several LGBTQ groups that I found in my area, I was able to find plenty of other groups that specialized in certain activities that had a fair amount of LGBTQ in them already.

Are the dancing or yoga classes for the general public or organised for LGBT?

I'm jealous! I have no LGBTQ friends (actually, scratch that, ever since I came out, I have no friends at all) my LGBTQ group stopped meeting (and the only other ones in my area won't let me in cuz I'm homeschooled) and I'm too young to go to any gay or lesbian bars. Life is cruel to me when it comes to having friends.

Eab I have the same trouble here. We just moved down south into NC in the states and this state is not particularly LBGT Friendly. There are 2 gay bars downtown about 35 minutes from me but I haven't built up the courage to go yet. I think my fear prevents me from meeting the people I need in my life. Good luck in your search and just be true to who you are and I think you will find what you are looking for. I know not much help....but hey I'm here for ya (&&&)

Well I know some LGBT people thanks to the high school I just graduated from being so pro LGBT people (It reached national news level recognition thanks to the thing Obama passed about trans students), besides that I'm planning on joining the LGBT group the university I'm going to has so if you're also a college student, i'd look into seeing what groups they offer or just be on the lookout for any LGBT organizations in your city.

They seem to be all over the place in the mental health community, where I generally stay. This is not to say that LGBT people are unstable and dangerous; that is an unfair stereotype perpetuated by the media.

I've ran into too many false leads on nearby LGBTQ groups that I've decided to just wait until school starts and join the one at my high school.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. I really just need to get involved in some type of LGBTQ+ group in my community. I think this will help too.

You can try online dating too. There are lots of dating sites for gay people.
