    Time to rant (!)

Are there any words that irritate you to no end when people use them?

EDIT: Oh, and not gay insults, because there are enough threads about them.

"Irregardless", partly because it's barely a word and makes no sense.

"At this point in time". Just say "now"!

I've always found the word 'proactive' a bit irritating, because I find it quite meaningless and it strikes me that people use it when they want to sound sophisticated.

I hate when people say they 'could care less'. That doesn't even make sense damn it!

No. Words are just words, they don't mean a whole lot eh?
I say a lot of stupid things so when other people say stuff that makes no sense I don't get bothered.

a lot of commentary phrases are cliches like "he'll be disappointed with himself after that" or "there was a small opening there". makes people who watch them feel frustrated everytime they say that haha. Personally, i hate it when people use arguably. Because most of the times when they use arguably it isn't in an arguable situation at all! haha.

I can't stand pause words. Words such as like, um, uh, and the sort. I guess its because I am a fairly fast and confident speaker myself, and I only really enjoy talking to people who can keep up. For some reason, "hm" doesn't bother me. I guess I associate with a puase for thought rather than just a pause.

Derogatory words relating to the vagina.
I'm fine with vagina, but the other words are just too dirty for me.

They're on my "never to say" list.

The fact that I consider those words dirty have no relation to my feelings about vaginas. They have only ever been used in very obscene situations so I've been completely turned off and traumatized by them.

I was going to say that! It actually isn't a word at all, people just use it because they are being stupid and don't realize that regardless is the word they should be using. I guess some people just assume that since they are using the word as a negative they should add a ir, un, or dis or any of those prefixes.

when people say something is "tabled"...
because sometimes it means a subject is taken off the table/not talked about, but it can also mean the exact opposite, that a subject was brought to the tabled to be talked about.
    AAH!!

I hate when people use "... are we?" in the sarcastic sense.

Me: *runs down the hall to make it to class*
Teacher: "We're not running, are we?"
    Me: *WTF*
