Does everyone who loves music and has good ears for music want nice speakers for there music? Or do they not care about how the music sounds from whatever it's coming from? Meaning as long as they can hear it it's fine?

The reason I asked this is since I love music so I need to have good speakers to play them but Kent said he loves music but said as long as I can hear it then I' am fine so I kinda have a hard time believing he doesn't care about sound much. If you love music means you love to hear good sound to enjoy it right? Or are most people that loves music are like Kent and doesn't care about how great it sounds? He says he can't really tell the difference in sound from speakers unless it's really like bad as a cheap radio and comparing to any high end stereo system.

I just wondered if anyone here knows someone that loves music but doesn't care about how there music sounds and they are fine with todays LCD LED TV speakers. He doesn't even have a stereo and only a set of cheap $10 earbuds. It would drive me crazy if I had no decent headphones or speakers for my music. I do love music a lot also and I have a pair of JBL 4312m speakers from Grandpa that I got from Japan and also a pair of JBL HLS610 speakers and have two stereo receivers that I got as a gift since I can't afford them. All my stereo equipment are gifts so far.

All I know is that he clearly said he has the ears to music but saying as long as it plays fine then I' am fine sounds like someone who careless about music.

In a perfect world, absolutely I'd love everything to come out of a pair of great speakers. Music does not thrive coming out of a cellphone speaker

If you want good speakers for your house I'd recommend getting a Sonos speaker, it's controlled with your phone but isn't Bluetooth.
I've got three in my house and they are spectacular music quality and hooks right up with Sonos if you have it

I am a huge music lover and if you were to see my music library...your mouth would drop wide open in disbelief. Therefore, with that being said...a good sound system with impeccable speakers means a lot to me in receiving a quality sound from the music I am listening to. I get really upset or even annoyed when I hear music from a really low quality speaker system because I know that the music is not being heard at its best potential.

I both listen to and produce my own music, but I am not a huge audiophile snob despite the fact that I typically listen to music several hours each day. I do have a pair of good headphones for when I produce (it is essential so you can hear what others will hear in that case), but for just listening I am not picky as long as it's not like a phone or TV speaker or something which totally kills the sound. It really depends a lot on the genre too.

I would always prefer to hear the full range in perfect clarity, but it isn't the end of the world if I can't hear every last little detail or the lows or highs are a bit over-pronounced. My $30 earphones are perfectly fine for when I am on the move, especially since I usually listen to high energy electronic music when outside and they are a bit lacking in mids, which just makes such music sound even better. In fact, I almost always use an equalizer to boost the lows for such music even when I listen with my good headphones, because... Well... It's all about that bass! :icon_wink

I love music but I only really care about 1. the volume of the video being loud enough 2. being able to hear the sound out of both buds [I think that's the name for them]

Music is my one true passion I guess, and I'm happy with my stereo. It isnt amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good enough. My speakers are a pair of Wharfedale diamond do 220's (Diamond 220 | Wharfedale Hi-Fi), and as far as entry level speakers go they're pretty damn good. My full set up is a pro-ject essential II, an onkyo a9211 from eBay for something like £40, and said speakers. It's fine for what it's used for, and I'm happy with it.

Now, I'm sure that there are people with stupid money to spend on stuff and have wayyyy nicer stuff than me, but I'm not fussed. In answer to your actual question, phone speakers don't cut it for me, but any half decent stereo such as my own will suffice for me. But it's all a matter of taste so what I say may be completely different for you.

Most of the time I use relatively cheap yet decent quality Sennheiser earphones. I was less fussy when I was a teenager and I just used really cheap JVC earphones I found at the local shop

I usually prefer music with clean production. There are definitely exceptions such as Sigh's "Scenes From Hell" album (the 'muddiness' adds to the atmosphere of the music)

There is a big difference between loving music and loving sound lol. If you love music then yes, there are people who love high quality and people who love low quality and still love music equally. Same goes for genres. Most people who love music actually only love 1 or 2 genres so by your logic this then means they dont love music

My personal opinion is that if you truly love music it doesnt matter if its high or low quality, doesnt matter which genre or artist or whatever. Sidenote: if you make music then quality ofcourse does matter A LOT lol but you also need to know how your nusic sounds over earphones or a phone speaker (lowest quality).

If you love sound though then yeah, high quality all the way. If you just want 2 speakers for like with a laptop or pc I can reccomend KRK or Mackie. They both have high quality for a reasonable price. But whatever you do always go for 3 way speakers or higher. And always add a subwoofer in addition do that. It doesnt have to be loud af but you can just edge in the depth of music on the lower ranges in a way a normal speaker can never really do.

If you want a full system Id say go voor Bang & Olufsen. They can even design a layout for your house if you want. But it will cost ya. It will be 10000% worth it though.

For headphones I got Beyerdynamics as a brand atm and its AMAZINGLY good and the ones I got only cost me 170 euro. Which is very low for the enormou amount of quality I got. Earphones Id say go for Sehnheisser. They have a good range for a low price.

Eh did I forget anything lol? Oh yeah, for cars go with the brand Rainbow (how appropriate lol). They make THE BEST audio hardware.

Also if you listen to 1 specific genre maybe look into which brand specialises in that genre. Cause not all speakers are for all music. Function1 and JBL for instance are made for electronic music with hard kicks (like house and techno) while a brand like Marshall is specialised in music made by bands (rounder softer sounds) etc etc

Well Kent said that he has a pair of speakers that he got from his father when he passed away when he was 14 but he uses those old 80s speakers to listen his music since then he can have it louder than computers speakers. He knows that coming from cell phones or cheap things can't go loud enough but he just isn't as into sound from his speakers like I' am. He loves music that's a fact but I was just surprised that he doesn't care so much on how his music sounds since most people would normally.

I was thinking that if I got him decent speakers maybe he would enjoy them more since he will realize his been missing out good parts from his music? Or is he for sure the type that will never hear the difference even if he had a better free stereo system? I probably will never find out until I get him one.

I always cry a bit if I have to play music through my monitor's speakers - rather have no music at all playing. For me it's very important to have a good quality sound.

Currently have a ~25 year old set of Sony stereo system + speakers hooked up to my Mac. Old stuff but the sound it gives is amazing. You don't have to go for something new and super expensive if you just want to test it.

Also since he likes watching music videos probably have to connect the amp to a DVD player or Blu-ray player and maybe his Xbox too so he can play music off of there. I can't remember if he owns a DVD or Blu-ray player. Or if he uses his Xbox to play his music videos. Ya I can get a used receiver or amp or something and get some decent speakers for him that doesn't cost too much.

I'm a musician and when at home listen to music through full-range recording monitors rather than traditional speakers, which have hyped EQs.

Just wondering but what monitors you use? I bet you use something way better than M-Audio BX5 or other $300 monitors right? For me to afford them is really hard since I am in tight budget. I know I really liked the sound of Adam Audio A7X but they are way way too expensive. I can the BX5 does sound pretty good for the price though and around now to Christmas they usually have them on sale for two speakers like $200 at Guitar Center. But to me $200 is a lot of money. I will have save a lot. Living on state money is hard.

I have Focal CMS 65s as my main monitor but also some cheap 5 inch Tannoys. I've checked out the Adam A7s but to me they seemed too "crisp" which can often but a sign of having hyped highend. They sounded good, but for my purposes I wanted something to show the flaws in music, to replace Yamaha 8 inchers I had for years. I was checking the Adams out in someone's treated music studio though, which makes a huge difference. I got the Focals used for a steal, so that's how I ended up with them. I don't have any treatment in my apartment, my "dining room" is my music room, lol.
